Back when carbon paper was the thing every office used, and it was getting less and less, it was the age of the copier/printer. I started a career with Lanier Worldwide, of course back then it was called Harris/3m, and it is known today as a subsidiary of Ricoh. The industry has not changed very much, in the sense that it stills sells the means to put dots on paper. Well, I guess they also do a few other things - after all, there has been a lot of creativity to keep them relevant. read the rest here

Just got this from a friend who is a Sales Manager..."Things ARE a bit different here… Although we are and will be Hughes-Calihan, it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Konica Minolta. They will be closing the direct KM branches in AZ and NV, and folding them into us in April. We no longer offer Lanier… This is pretty big news. They are (were) a very big Lanier Dealership with 6 offices in AZ and two in NV. Art, you may want to post this on the Konica Minolta Board.

PCWin has the ability to specify the order the pages will print; Auto, Standard and Reverse. If you print to the upper exit, all 3 ways will give you the results you would think with Auto being the same as Forward. When you print to the lower exit, Auto prints in reverse order and does not work. If you hold your mouse pointer over the pull down in PCWin, the message reads "Auto means reverse if face up, else forward". This would be true if you were printing to a tray off the back of the

You can get it from the Savin site. Your looking for the 2525/3030 (E-3000) PPD for the MacOS X (Ricoh calls it an E-5000 but it’s the same). No additional hardware is needed. I used it in a PC environment so I can’t tell you for sure it will work with a MAC but I don’t see why not. Postscript is Postscript. Good Luck.

Savin Downloads The engine in the CLP240d is basically the same as the c3535/c4540. So go to the color multifunction drop down and select the C3535/c4540(E-5000) click go. Scroll down to the Mac OSX section and download the PPD Installer. The ppd installer contains the "driver". Run the ppd installer on the Mac just you would to install any printer on the MAC. Just a word of warning, you would be fired on the spot if you sold equipment on the side while working for my company, regardless of who gets the maintenance agreement. Selling equipment for one company (you) while employed for another is a serious breech of contract and would not be tolerated with most companies. It really is no different than if you sold copiers for one company while employed for another.

I'm aware that there are various shareware and downloadable programs out there that claim to be able to do this, but isn't part of the problem that every fax will be laid out differently? So, then, you wouldn't be able to set a field rule for a zonal OCR. So back to being stumped. As for automatic capture, index, and filing with full rights, check out Prism Software's DocRecord. http

If you have a signed contract and RBS quotes a lower price, you have grounds for a law suit. It's considered unfair business practices and tortuos interference. Your dealerships laywer should send a letter to Ricoh's legal council seeking compensation. The last thing they want is a lawsuit.

I just looked it up: Predatory pricing (also known as destroyer pricing) is the practice of a firm selling a product at very low price with the intent of driving competitors out of the market, or create a barrier to entry into the market for potential new competitors. If the other firms cannot sustain equal or lower prices without losing money, they go out of business. The predatory pricer then has fewer competitors or even a monopoly, allowing it to raise prices above what the market would

Do they really have 21" and/or 15" roll paper available ? I would have them put 22" inch (standard and available) paper in and do a user define print size, making the defaults "auto-rotate", "middle-center" . Also do "maintain ratio" and "cut-select" to ANSI C, 17 x 22. Explain the benefits of an extra 1" border and you'll be fine. Greg

Just the beginning...? It has now been a little over six months since the merger of Lanier and Ricoh into Ricoh Americas Corporation. During that time, there have been many changes in our organization and we have all experienced some of the good and some of the bad that change brings. The merger of two organizations having different cultures, systems and business methods is a difficult undertaking and what we have seen since April 1 certainly confirms that fact. There is a general impression held by many both inside and outside the business world that salesmen are full of hot air. Many people associate the sales profession with the smooth-talking car salesman who wants to sell you a car that was owned by the proverbial little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays. Reality is that most sales people are average everyday individuals who are friendly and considerate and have friends and families, just like people who are accountants, engineers

While reading the brochure I noticed that you are able to store documents, up to 100 on the internal hd of the printer. A few questions, first how do you get them there and the second is how do you tell them to print. Along with telling them to print can we then tell it how many and what type of finsihing is needed.

Ricoh SP W2470, Why I Can't Sell Them!

They are out sourcing some 40 - 80 prints a month and can't afford payments of $296 and they are buying ink plotters whether HP or Canon. It would be nice to capture these customer also. My general opinion is that Ricoh Wide Format is resting on their laurels with the Ricoh SP W2400. Art, The business plan for the 2400 was created by someone who is no longer with the company, and now is run by people who think they know the market and what it needs. A business when not managed properly will eventually end. Can't live on the past forever. What a shame, Ricoh WF business has gone from the other group, to #1 Marketshare in the US, to...guess we will have to wait and see.

This is a plug n play (UpNp) problem. I solved my issue by disabling UpNp at the server, however you can turn it off at the print also, login to Web Image Monitor and disable SSDP, you may be able to do it from the panel but I'm not sure. I havent seen this problem on the printers but I have on the new MFP's. I would be interested in knowing if this fixes it.

We tried turning off SSDP at the printer but that didn't fix the issue. The customer is going to turn off UpNp at their server and hopefully that will take care of it. I also had a case where domain policy overwrote the "lock pages in memory" setting from "everyone" back to the default blank setting. I've also had times where the user selects scan, but the machine requires a few seconds to get into scan mode. The user doesn't wait, and inserts the original to soon. The machine then makes a copy, and throws off the PC/Machine connection. Afterwards the Ricoh needs to be rebooted. I've seen this on 480's but not 240's.

Two thoughts: 1) Use OmniPage to OCR it and save the result as a new pdf. Nuance (formerly ScanSoft) has been a good software partner through our Konica side of our dealership. http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/professional/ 2) Later versions of Adobe Acrobat (I have Acrobat 7) have the ability to do OCR. The file retains the OCR results, so you can reopen it again later and search without having to re-do the OCR.

Tracking data When selling, it's important to keep track of the numbers. It is important for many reasons. Keep track of: 1. The number of dials you make 2. Messages left 3. People you reach 4. First appointments made 5. Number of people who give three "No's". 6. Messages returned 7. Number of new leads added to the intranet We will also be tracking total number of sales visits and number of sales. Eventually, we'll get a handle on the value of our pipeline. Then we can work out how many calls

I tried all these tricks to get the software to recognize the envelope tray, but to no avail. There is a glitch between the software and the printer. Ricoh's suggestion was to bypass the envelope wizard, and have customer type out addresses in Word, and then print to the envelope. You know as well as I do that if a customer can't go to the wizard, their not going to do the extra steps to print to an envelope, they'll just go to another printer. An important part of selling is to keep track of the ratios and numbers so you can understand your pipeline and improve it. How many calls does it take to get an appointment? How many appointments does it take to get a sale? And so on. Eventually, you'll find that it generally takes 10 calls to make an appointment and 10 appointments to make a sale, for instance. Then you'll realize that if you made 1000 calls last month and made $5000, then you'll want to make 2000 calls to make $10,000. Once

Suppose you make 100 calls one month and get 20 appointments for the next month, but that next month you're busy going to appointments so you didn't make any calls -- how many appointments will you have on the third month? None. That's because you didn't feed the pipeline. Of course, if you've done any sales already, you're quick to realize that If you made $20000 in sales this month, it's because you made 2000 calls last month. Or something like that. That's the sales pipeline in reality. You

Sales Pipeline: A sales pipeline is a very important concept in selling because it is the recognition of the origin and result of each sale. Each sale starts as a lead -- which is a phone number, a name, an email address, a referral or someone who walks into your store -- they are leads. From there, you qualify the lead, which means, you make sure this person is capable of becoming a customer -- either they have enough money or the right size outfit for your product. All of the Ricoh scanners can do this with software, and there are many different types that can be used. One of the systems that can be used is GOBY from doculex, keep in mind that a bar code separtor page must be used/inserted betwwen the batches. Bar code information will contain file name, and indexing fields that you require. You can also use Document Mall with associated software. I don't know if it has to do with the way the memory is shared or the fact that these machines are so inexpensive that they are stealing sales that should be handled by 25ppm machines. My only suggestion is to be aware of it before it becomes a problem.

Over the weekend I picked up the BTA magazine for August. In that article was an interview or Q&A with Oscar Sanchez (CEO) of Kyocera Document Solutions America.  Cutting to the chase one of the dealer questioned posed to Oscar.

"The Kyocera A4 has been non-existent for the last several months.  We have been informed that little or no product will be available for the balance of this year"

One of Oscars responses stated that in the last quarter April to June of this year Kyocera shipped 25,000 A4 devices.  Okay, I thought does that mean 25,000 to the USA or was that worldwide?  How about their A4 partners like Ricoh, does that number include A4 MFPs that went to Ricoh USA also?  How about the other partners?

I can accept that he meant the USA market place, which means 8,000 MFPs was the monthly average.  Does that mean.....more coming later this week

I do not know of any device that will do what you need without software. I reccomend contacting Doculex

***Update**** In reviewing the information, it seems I may have been wrong and that these machines do have the same as their predecessors. However, I never ran into this problem before now. I don't know if it has to do with the way the memory is shared or the fact that these machines are so inexpensive that they are stealing sales that should be handled by 25ppm machines. My only suggestion is to be aware of it before it becomes a problem.

The default SMB workgroup/domain name programmed in the MP161 is WORKGROUP. If that is not the customers workgroup/domain name then you WILL get that

Is Product Discounting the Way to Go?

Sure, you want the business, but is discounting the way to go? Studies have shown that once the reduced price goes away, so may the customer. Better to slowly build a base of customers who really want your product "at the regular price" and who will stay with you due to your service and expertise.

well said Shaja, bit depth is far more important to quality color than resolution. if you have 8 bit 600X600 your quality will be much better than a 2 or 4 bit with a resolution of 2400X1800. Like a Konica minolta guy told me on resolution you can only put so many dot in an inch until they start to just pile up whereas the bit depth has to do with the color variation per pixel.

MP 7500 bypass registration and user code list

supertech6482 (Guest) ·
Brand new MP 7500 bypass registration is off, top to bottom(1 inch) and lead to trail(5 mm). Check default setting and paper guides, appears OK. Possible firmware? Also same machine when you print user code list, it shows user name and code. Same account MP6500, when user code list is printed only shows user codes with no name. Any help is greatly appreciated.
