Real Copier Sales

August 28th, 2008 came the press release that Ricoh will purchase Ikon.  Hard to believe it's been 15 years.  Many good people were caught in the purge with many of the top Ikon people taking leadership roles within Ricoh.  I thought that one of the covenants of the purchase was that many IKON people would stay on while many existing Ricoh employees suffered the loss of their positions.  Many of the threads are below

Memjet print head revolution delayed

Silverbrook's US-based subsidiary, Memjet Home and Office, says there are a couple of reasons for the switch away from a photo printer. One is that volume sales of small photo printers are dropping, "meaning that customers were voting that they would rather go some place and have their photos printed rather than trying to print them at home". Secondly, getting almost perfect quality printing in a very small format proved a tough challenge with a nascent technology, so the company decided to go first of

What if you could actually be more successful without selling? Until now, nearly everyone and everything that you've heard or read about marketing has been aimed at hiding your valuable money-making secret from you. They've been demonstrating the worst possible way for you to get business -- and suggesting (or insisting) you follow their lead. They've told you to sell, sell, sell... advertise again and again... push hard... and then get up the next day and do it all over again! Why? Because

It is not that hard to install, although one issue we ran into was that the latest version of the software seemed to not install, we had to drop back one version, then it worked just fine. As far as how it works, from the customer perspective, they get to the copier and it asks them for a code and they enter it and then can use the copier as normal. One limitation of the User limits

An ldap scan to email search that doesn't require 5 button pushes (Xerox can in 2). Color scan on everything. Web access from MFP panel. More sophisticated scanning setup (create scan profiles in one application and then push to one or multiple devices simutaneously, Xerox does this). PostScript emulation at a fraction of the cost of the real postscript option (as most of our competitors have). Scan2print. Oh yes, and most important for Ricoh to stop trying to acquire it's already acquired

I believe the starter cartridges are only good for 500 prints or so, and the max with new is only 2,000. estimated cost per page is .18 cents if you get the yield. Very expensive to run color, however good for LV mono, where they would only do 200 color pages a month.

Great America is now doing print fleet management leases which by definition funds a payment not collateralled (not really a word) by equipment. By that I mean add $68,000 to your normal maintenance rate but attribute it all to maintenance. I've never tried...just trying to think outside the box.

With the RPCS it is a one time thing and it's computer specific. With PCL, you can change the user code as you like. I have not been asked this question in 15 years, so I need some help from all. Risograph used to have a 27 bin sorter that could be attached to their duplicators but cost about the same price as the duplicator itself. They were cumbersome and really defeated the purpose of what a duplicator was designed to do, but nevertheless, they did sort. I have a new customer that wants to see if they are still available for the Ricoh series. Ricoh tells me that they are partnering with MBM Corp for

So Easy, A Copier Rep Can Sell It!!

The copier industry is facing tough times. It is no longer just about speeds and feeds, rather how can the equipment be used as part of a business process to increase productivity? Usually that business process includes software add-ons. The software add-ons can be for a specific task; for example, managing access and usage, or for general purpose document processing and document management. All of the manufacturers now have reliable devices that will print, scan, fax and copy in color or

If that number of businesses includes resturants and retail, you have a tough row to hoe my friend. Really, number of businesses is a poorer way of gauging one territory vs another than number of employees. However, the only "accurate" way is to use the BEQI (pr. becky) Index. That stands for Business Equipment Quota Index which is a market quota index for B&W and Color MFP's, B&W and color printers, and Fax's. It makes it possible to compare different territories b county, metro area, or zip
