I just think of Print Management (or Managed Print Services) as the extension of copier programs into the print environment...all service and supplies for a set cost per copy (or in this case print). Sometimes it includes hardware, sometimes not. The other aspect we bring to the table is the establishment of automatic ordering by the device thereby eliminating the need for pre-paid inventory and all the problems associated with it i.e too much, too little, obsolete, employee theft, etc. We also

Envelopes are not supported on the C6000/C7500. Why would you want to run envelopes on a 70ppm color device? Sell them a printer in addition, or give them one. It's much cheaper to change a fusing unit in a printer than an MFP.

I think your giving three seperate yet totally intergrated defintions of Print Management shows just how great a disconnect there can be when dealing with our customers in regards to providing a PM solution. I was recently doing a discovery with a company's CIO and while a PM solution had been addressed with the previous CIO and accepted as one, the new CIO saw it merely as a way for the current vendor to lock in recharged toner cartridges and service at a hefty price. i would say the answer is yes.... PM is really what your customer thinks it is, so it is really up to us during the discovery stage to find out just what the customer's viewpoint is on the subject. Obviously with the CIO I was speaking about, just providing recharged cartridges and including service on the printers wasn't footing the bill, however, for some that may suffice. It's like everything else in our business now, as the professional we have to be the one to diagnose(?) and to recommend

One of the other components which can be part of the managed print process is the financing side. We just recently finalized a total CPC contract with a long term client and the number one reason they were really interested in going this way is to get "off book" financing. Our deal is a cpc for a 48 month term and we carry the hardware as well as the service and supplies...for them it is only a quarterly (paid in advance) invoice for a volume of prints...no lease, no long term responsibility

$6,500 list..... $5,600 LDP, once you put a MU on it, your sales cost is higher than the MSRP, what the %$#& are they thinking. Realistically, they messed up so bad by not having a color scan option with the new 2400 and 3600 (and nothing forseeable for the next 16 months), that they had to resort to this scanner from Contex. Plus the fact you need a dedicated PC, Touch Screen and the system needs to have a W2400, 2470, W3600 or 480 on the network in order to make this work.

Just The Facts, Please "I told a prospect that I'd follow up within a week. Two weeks later, I figured I missed my chance and they went with someone else." Sound familiar? Effective salespeople don't guess themselves into a sale. To ensure you're operating with the facts, ask yourself this, "Do I have evidence to support my assumption or how I'm feeling?" Enjoy the peace of mind that comes from gaining clarity rather than drowning in the stories that you believe are true.

whatever. All that being said, there is no justification that I can think of for a 300% increase. I have to believe that if you told them that they are stuck with it at that price that they will reconsider. Our goal is that the sales cost needs to be 25% of the street price of new. That way Sales reps can sell at 100% markup and the customer is getting it for 50% of the cost of new.

It is not that hard to install, although one issue we ran into was that the latest version of the software seemed to not install, we had to drop back one version, then it worked just fine. As far as how it works, from the customer perspective, they get to the copier and it asks them for a code and they enter it and then can use the copier as normal. One limitation of the User limits

Re: Features you would like to see on future products

·
The PS3 option for most of the newer models includes PDF Direct Print. You can set up a scan to folder (FTP) using the IP address of the printer you want to output on. This gives you "Scan2Print" capability. And of course, you can choose another folder on the network to scan to in the same operation...

Automated Fax Reception

·
On a recent install of a Savin 9050 with fax option, the customer is not able to receive incoming automated telephone orders from Verizon via the fax option. Ricoh says this is an issue they are working on but have not come up with any solutions yet. The system they had before was the Savin 4035e, and the automated faxes came through fine. Any suggestions other than what Ricoh is telling us?

MP4000/5000-Rx fax problems

DRichard (Guest) ·
Somebody else must be seeing this...Our MP4000/5000 machines cannot recieve faxes properly when they are generated through IP servers. The line opens but the comm link takes forever and we recieve each page three times. We have set Fax SP1-104-003 bit2=1 per Ricoh Tech Support. Symptoms remained but only the last page came through. Monitor report shows error code 06-21 after each attempt. All incomming faxes from traditional sources work fine. I am being told Ricoh is aware of the problem

Re: usage management

Mr. Copy (Guest) ·
I sold Konica Minolta for 3 years and worked with Konica/Minolta products for 7. One of the major differences between Konica Minolta and Ricoh is administration and ease of use. It is true that Konica Minolta has this feature. The problem with it is that you can not make the quotas time sensitive. It can start to get confusing to the end user when they have to go back in and allow another 100 copies. Ricoh does not have this feature because the designers probably thought that it would

usage management

My prospect has told me that the Konica Minolta product they are looking at offers the capability to set specific copy quota's for users so that they may have unlimited b&w, but have 100 color copies per user for example. #1. Is anyone familiar with this feature on the Konica Minolta systems or other manufacturer's systems? #2. Assuming Ricoh products don't offer this, how would you handle this question? Thanks for any input!

Re: Print Management

My experience with Print Director has just been training. It is just PrintAudit product relabeled with Ricoh's name but I still prefer to get stuff from Ricoh if possible. I think by keeping everything Ricoh (when possible) helps keep everything Ricoh (when possible) if you know what I mean. If everything is from Ricoh, they are less likely to go non-Ricoh when the opportunity arises. I can also promote the idea of keeping everything Ricoh as long as I haven't done a bunch of 3rd party stuff

If you ignore the cost recovery aspect of Ricoh's Print and Copy Vending Embedded Solution, it may work for you. I assume you would be able to set B&W values to 0 and set color values to 1 with a one hundred limit and get what you need. This is a new product so I haven't actually worked with it. In case my attachment didn't work, the brochure number is R2480.

Re: IS760 Scanning Options for speed.

Art Post (Guest) ·
You will increase the speed with the scuzzi, i think dtb and twain is slowing the process down. I have placed one of these in a title company and used the network board and scanned to folder, customer was very happy and the speed was very good. Go with the network board option and mirror what the Xerox is doing.

Re: Default Username & Password

Let me inform you of the DISASTER that this can create. The supervisor password should NEVER be accessible for the sales staff or the end-user. The reason for this is if the supervisor password EVER get accidentally changed, (Believe me, sales and customers say that) You CANNOT fix it. You must replace the MAIN board and / or replace the NVRAM which is a nightmare/ and very costly. Just beware of who knows of this specialty login. That is probably why this login has been held in such secrecy

You might think so, but we have at least twenty machines in various locations with exactly the same symptoms. We just yesterday brought one to the shop and reproduced the problem sending test faxes from our Blackberries. This isn't limited to the MP4000-5000 either, we are also getting reports from our field techs they are seeing it from MP2550 and MP2500 series also.
