Re: Proposal Three (multiple xerox)

·
This proposal brings to light something I think some dealers are starting to do in select situations. We all know no one can make any money at $.0019 per b/w page, margin would be really skinny at $.0042. But, the color rate isn't really all that aggressive, at least not on comparable Ricoh gear. I think some dealers are starting to use black white as a loss-leader in order to capture profitable color pages wonder when this will become a more common practice.

It's a single footprint unit with color scan capability. I'm told it uses a graphtec-built scanner. MSRP starts around $17K, options drive that to the mid twenties. Dealer cost with volume discounts could be down to the lower teens. (So if Ricoh direct were selling this product, it would no doubt be on the street for $9900!)

I just got the new pricing on it. list is 17k for 1 roll printer, 5k for scanner, $850 for 2nd roll and $850 for pdf. I heard kip lowered the price on the 3000 to dampen any plotwave sales. yes the street price should be around 13k plus delivery and install--- for now. any dealer that bought into the intro price can do that. 2 roll ,color stf ,pdf. price was suppose to go up after the irga. so street price will be around 13,900 and up. I am not sure what the list is suppose to be, my sales rep

well said Chuck; I think sometimes we get so focused on the things that don't really matter that we tend to forget what we're really paid to do. Competition will always be out there and sometimes it won't always be fair. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. You want to be a box salesman then you'll always gripe when someone sells something at cost to get the deal. Those people who are in the market are the ones that will more than likely be looking for multiple proposals

In these times its a fact that there are less solution opportunities, we as salepeople still have revenue or gp quota. So, when a "box sale" does come along you do your best to present a solution to the customer based on the how the new box can streamline thire workflow (because they have no interest in other solutions

I have always clashed with the sales model used for DM. Why not just let the customer pay for it with credit card directly? If a rep is responsible for the sale, then give them a percentage cut on their Ricoh card as long as the customer is paying. Paying for 3 to 5 yrs as an add-on to the equipment lease is not a very efficient model for increasing volume. Sounds more like doing hard time.

Re: Print Production Pricing

I'd like to bring this back...I think a lot of this topic has to do with how specialized the Commercial Printer is. Is this a Printer that offers something unique, or just wants to get the best price on their Digital machine to compete with someone who might still be using offset? I would say the majority of my Commercial Printers want the same thing, good image quality, accurate registration, and responsive support. Does that warrant a discount, no, but in the big picture, we're not providing

We are Konica and Xerox..KM by far is the superior product until you get to Production in which case we are pretty 50-50. Xerox, at least for us, offers some price advantage, especially in the entry-level to mid-range. Also, we are no longer the exclusive dealer of either as Xerox Agents are popping up everywhere.

Sales reminder Be sure to regularly check back with prospects that in the past have told you "it's not in the budget" – "we don't do that" – "we're/ I'm happy with our current supplier." Budget allocations change. People leave. Trends dissolve. Customer service falters. Opportunities once bleak become fresh again. Be tenacious. Assume nothing. Just sell.

Our products are a commodity only if you allow it to become one. There will always be those times when you are selling a box, that's partof any business, but if all you do is react to the market then you won't be doing this long. I always thought that I was able to provide value, but in the last year I have learned a lot about what real value is and how to create it. If all one does is find out there is a lease due, finds out what the customer says he or she wants and then provides a proposal

I would recommend the book "Getting Insude Your Customers Head" by Kevin Davis. It has made a huge difference in the way I approach sales from my past. Does this slow down the sales process? YES! But when you consider that on average you're fortunate to close 1 in 5 "new business" prospects and this process has changed it to at least 3 in 5, that's huge. RUMOR has it that Ricoh will change the name of the company to IKON Americas Corporation, effective August 1, 2009. RBS will fold into IKON, with several offices closing across the country. This new IKON direct organization will be the only distribution channel selling 'Ricoh' brand products, while the remaining "strong" Independent Dealers can sell Lanier and Savin (for a limited time) at an approximate 20% higher price than IKON will enjoy. RFG Dual Line Dealers will be requested to drop

It is sad that Ricoh has laid open the market and is allowing the direct reps to compete in current RFG business. The direct operation for Konica Minolta has been put on notice that if they walk into a current KM customer, then they are to turn around and walk out the door. That's from tRick Taylor himself. That doesn't mean if you're a duel line dealer and have non Konica Minolta equipment in there, then it's fair game, but KM is trying to protect its dealer side.

As a dual line dealer who also has Kyocera I have to say Tom Clark is right on. Because of service issues the Kyocera is the winner. Once you know how to customize the Kyocera touchscreen it is just as user friendly as a Ricoh. In fact you can customize their touchscreen any way you want for the customer, something you can't do with a Ricoh. My suggestion would be not to be selling based on the hardware. The hardware is now just a commodity. If you focus on the hardware you will lose alot of

I personally don't see this to be very believeable. Financially it doesn't make sense to destroy Ricoh's independent community which if you read this, every independent selling RFG would immediately drop them and pick up another manufacturer (we have already). If they went forward with this they would know that they would immediately loose a large percentage of their distribution and more importantly of that percentage it is the most with decent margins, as we all know that IKON/RBS and not

I do believe that classy Independent Dealers can (and do) win against due to providing excellent Service. That is because IKON and RBS fall short in this area. Yet, the game board is now changing, due to Ricoh's strict focus on supporting IKON and RBS at the expense of Dealers (yes with better 'pricing') and economic factors today, more and more business will erode for Independents. Meaning, at the very least, Independents will need to drop their pants and earn far less profit, far less to

In this situation, the print server was actually the printer and not a client. For example, \\RNP972416. When you connected you got a warning that the server does not have the correct print driver installed, etc... I can see the advantages of sharing the print driver off of a print server, but why would a printer be installed in this manner where it is not going through a print server, but using the printer as the server? I hope this question makes sense.

Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. 5.) The drivers for the color MFPs support lengths up to 23.62" through the bypass tray. The color printer drivers support up to 49" paper through the bypass. If you use the printer driver on the MFP, you can get them to print banners. Just keep in mind that if there is an issue, you are using the wrong driver, so don't expect service to be very accommodating.

Ricoh‟s solution can also enable a company to apply print rules that push settings onto workgroups. just a start. I also have to ask where does this put Kodak’s agreement with Canon. I hear that the Nexpress M700, that uses Canon 7000 technology, is sitting somewhat exposed in the market at a high price compared with equivalent products, and that it is being well undercut by Canon’s pushing of its 6000 press. Can we expect that Kodak’s weaknesses against companies like Xerox, where they have no comparable products to the Docucolor 242/252/260 and 700 Digital Press, could be helped by moving the

Ricoh does sell the NexPress in the US through Ricoh's Print Production Business Group (PPBG) and through IKON. This has been in place with PPBG for over a year now and with IKON for a few years now. Ricoh's PPBG group does not sell the M700 press as it competes with the C900. I'm not 100% sure about the arrangement at IKON but it's probably similar since IKON used to sell the Canon line up to the 7000. Utica’s Dodge Printing Lays off Majority of Employees

Dodge Printing in Utica, New York, has laid off the majority of it’s 65 employees in a move “to try and preserve the business,” according to Chief Operating Officer John Wissing. “The economy as whole in this region and in the U.S. is very tough right now,” Wissing noted. “Business has slowed, but we expect it to turn around.” The layoffs come at a time when Dodge Printing is settling a federal lawsuit over unpaid worker benefits amounting to $23,000 filed by the Graphics Communications

The first thing you have to check on is to see if the customer sent in their Letter of Intent. If the letter was not sent in, so WF had it on file at the 120 day point before the lease expires, WF has already renewed the lease for one year. The only way to get out of that one year renewal is to have your customer consider taking WF to small claims court, or wait it out for another year. And if the customer has to wait another year, prepare yourself because you may not get the repeat...

Ths buying of dealers sets an aweful precedent for that dealers that do not get purchased. Think about trying to secure and account and the CEO, CFO or owner asks this question to the dealer sales person. How do I know that your company will not be bought out by or sold? I for one, would feel more comfortable dealing direct, knowing that my product will always be serviced no matter what happens.
