Usually I will try an posting something interested from my day when posting these reruns. Today I was an expect weed puller, fell off a ladder while painting and dumped a quart of paint on the pavers. I also spent time planting flowers and cleaning up the homestead. A full day of work and I got work tomorrow. I need a fraking vacation!

Sunday and tomorrow starts the last 5 days before the end of the month. It can be bad or good, all depends on how you look at it. I see that I still have 20% of the month left to finish my goal. How do you look at it? Half full or half empty?

It's Saturday morning here in NJ. We've hit a snag in our spring weather today, although the sun is shinning the temp is only 41 degrees. Saturday's can be a fantastic day to prospect, whether it's a few phone calls, emails or inmails (Linkedin). Our job is to inspire clients clients that we all need to be moving forward and continue our determination to succeed.

Back in 2005 I was just 2 years into having a real web site for the copier industry. I started back in 2000 with an message forum with MSN communities. It was really cool because there was no on-line forum where sales people and principals could chat, share ideas, share war stories, share information, share competitive info and the list goes on and on. Twenty years later there is still no site like the Print4Pay Hotel. Did I do something right?
We're still the only site that allows members to communicate in a secure forums format along with blogs, press releases, quotes, leads and webinars.

This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (Last Week of February 2005)
Why would this week be different than the rest of the weeks in February? Since I depleted by pipeline at the end of the year it's been quite the struggle to rebuild. Thus I'm no where near where I need to be with February coming to an end on Monday for me. To make matters worse I'm off to Aruba the first week of March for our Presidents Club Trip. I was able to add a couple of large opportunities this week, one for MNS and the other for 30 plus devices. At this time both are March or April business and both will take a lot of work to bring them home.

Finally! A decent day and some movement on some accounts. It's been a six week drought with a few small deals here and there. I will still struggle to hit my monthly budget, but a least there's light at the end of the tunnel. Still no time to waste since I'll be on vacation for the first week in March. Presidents Club one more time for this old dog!

This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (Second Week of February 2005)
Just a little more on the show that I'd like to share from this week. While standing at the end of our booth I was watching the reps from other companies in our section. So many peeps passed their booth and they did not say a word! No greeting, no communication, they waited for someone to speak to them first. Needless to say I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that many warm leads were lost because these reps were never taught the fine art of "hawking" while at a trade show. I was taught many years ago by a dealer owner who wanted orders at the show. That art of hawking is to stand (not sit) and to be at the edge of your booth. Greeting, then the question where they are from (breaks the ice) and then the open ended question of "have you seen" or "do you have". It really does make a difference!

This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (First Week of February 2005)
Struggle, struggle and more struggle seems to the topic for the month of January. I'm in a slump and need to pull out of it. Today I had three planned calls after driving back from our 2020 Kick-off meeting yesterday. It was more of laying the seeds to reap in coming months, actually more like the third quarter for this year. Two calls went well and the other company moved on me. Thus, I need to do more leg work. Seems next week will be a complete week of working the phones and emails!

This week and last week have been a tough go for me. Packing everything into the end of 2019 and getting the flu right before Christmas has taken it's toll for orders in January. Thank goodness quarters are 3 months! I had a great pipeline for January, however almost I couldn't get much of it to move. Okay so I have an even better pipeline for February thus it's time to make things happen!

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago (Last Week of December 2009)
The time was about 4:30PM on the 23rd of this month. I had just left the office and was on my way home after submitting three orders that day. I had another verbal on an order and was waiting on docs to come to me. If I did receive the docs I could process from the home office. It was the end of a very good year. I had a short chat with my VP of Sales in the car about the day. A great comment was made about my "drive" and that meant a lot especially at this point in my sales career.

This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (Last Week of December 2004)
It's been a crazy week so far. Christmas hitting in the middle of the week is not good for any sales cycle. I finished my year on Monday and then acquired a cold I've been fighting for three days. The wife and I have a grand daughter due any day and we then have new years. For all of those still working it to the end just keep in mind if you don't ask you don't get!
