Re: PS3 Emulation vs Genuine Adobe PS3

I brought this topic up earlier, and it was a genuine concern for the prospect, as they are 90% Mac, and their current Canon systems have PS3 Emulation which slows the systems down. However, being that adding the genuine PS3 to each system averaged $1,000 per machine, and the price difference between the MP C5000 & MP C6000, they decided that the pain wasn't great enough to pay an extra $200 per month and went w/ a combination of Konica-Minolta color & Kyocera b/w gear.

Service wants all equipment sold to be new, have a one year history before it's sold, and be located within 10 miles of the office. geesh! Hard to over come $197 per month, but easier to over $3.00 per day. Were you in the incumbent or was KM? Was KM a dealer or direct? In this case, I would have tried to lead with two units, like you suggested the mono copier and the color printer. However, I would also have asked these two questions: How often do you copy and original? Most places do not copy that often and if you can get them to agree to this, then you have a chance of leading them to an A4 copy solution and an A3 print

Danka was the incumbent, so the Konica-Minolta dealer brought the most aggressive pricing possible to the deal. I tried to go down the road of copy volume versus print volume, but since the vast majority of the volume is run in their school, most of the volume is copying, and they hope to start scanning more. I do like your thinking of pairing A4 MFPs with A3 printers and vice-versa for other commercial accounts, provided that their aren't any space constrictions. Additionally, the church and

Great input. However, the customer was looking for a blended CPP for the b/w and color service, and as a result, the CPP was extremely aggressive on both fronts. The growth is on the very high end and the very low end in the this business. I would tend to think that it's not long before the copier manufacturers attack the extreme high end in years to come. As being "GREEN" becomes ever more popular to save paper, I think copies, and print clicks will move downward, thus forcing the manufacturers to capture more high end placements.

Canon Buyout Marketing Dollars

Just wondering if anyone has run into Canon direct operations claiming they have a special marketing fund to tap into for buyouts to target selected clients? We all know that buyouts are part of the game, but if they have funds that are off the price book it can really create an unusual challenge...this is a Canadian deal but I am guessing this type of plan would be across NA. Agreed, Expanding direct sales was way at the top of Canon's priority list - especially after losing GIS,Danka,IKON. But without "Mega" dealers, this expansion was going to have to happen organically - which is hard. Ask the 8 CBS branches that opened this year without any clients or machines in the field. Given that Oce almost totally relied on direct sales. I would say that they easily have over 30 US sales branches. Maybe closer to 50. Those are both guesses though

Re: GENERIC TONERS

In legacy HW and MPS scenarios seems like using non-OEM toners makes the most sense. If MPS is ideally brand-agnostic, then why not the supplies too? So regardless what HP says, you know they are using generics in many of their own MPS accounts too. Plus there is a reason that Xerox sells third party Canon and HP cartridges right from its website! Does anyone know if MFRs have a way to ensure that their OEM toners are used in their channel MPS programs or otherwise? Any thoughts?

I can't think of any way to duplicate a page (that's not just a driver/print setting/printstream issue, that's wholesale re-creation of a page) without getting a package that will do much much more (and cost more than you want to pay). How about setting up two printers with different default settings and having them print twice? If they aren't willing to pay, they either need to be willing to take extra steps or relinquish this request.

Forms Printing w/carbonless & Stapling

Art Post (Guest) ·
Ok, its been ahile for me on this one. My customer is using Timberline accounting software and he needs to print forms. I am under the impression that we can direct the forms to a printer. But we need the printer to print the same form twice and then auto staple the form. How is this done? Is it additional software or just a modification of the print stream?

That includes an average of 2 million black-and-white forms that administrative and clinical staff use monthly, and more than 1 million color documents, including brochures. Currently, the print center receives more than 125 job tickets a day and processes about 93% of those in five business days or less. Large volume printing is done in the

Water agency gets handle on mountain of paperwork

problem was money. "While we had this huge requirement for retention, we also couldn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on software and hardware," Perry said. "We expected sticker shock. It turns out you can get everything you need out of one box." In the end, the software cost about $19,000 and the copier cost about $5,000, Perry said. The Ricoh machine also replaced the water authority's aging copier, scanner and fax machine. It can do all those chores. Tools in place Now that the tools are

Re: Pop-Up Drivers

·
I haven't put a consorted effort into selling Smart Accounting because the pop-up drivers are inconsistent in that upon installation, sometimes they pop up and sometimes they don't. I'd also be concerned about installing this on a print server and sharing it out because I believe there may be issues where the server keeps the previous user's code if the user does not enter in a user code. It would be much more simple if they would just put the pop up function in the universal driver and made it

Re Toshiba's site: The hitch in a social networking site for professionals in one specific competitive industry is the competition factor. Re P4P forums opening up across the board: I second Neal's opinion. There is a tech site that already operates that way (The Copier Network).
