If the potential customer believes you will be there to take care of whatever problem they may encounter, and back it up with service, you will get more sales than what the analysts say. I think that my used numbers are about 25%-30% of my totals on average per month. My GM makes sure and has a nice selection of used that he buys off lease and they move well. I will often package used into a multiple system deal to keep the overall cost down and customers love it. Not to mention a healthy GP number that comes with selling used.

My used sales still account for 40% of my monthly sales. Several months ago I upgraded a customer with a 10 machine deal, and I have moved all but 2 of those 10 machines elsewhere. Used machines do help out in multiple machine deals to keep the costs down. We always have a good supply of used machines, or we know where to get them if we need them. Not everyone will buy a used machine, but a good majority will if you offer it as an alternative.

They have been directed from the higher ups to leave it alone since we are the dealer of record. I think they are desperate. The RBS branch I was told only has two technicians that cover a huge area. Anything over 600x600 is an emulation. Simply put, the machine guesses where dots should go so your solids tend to be inconsistent. See if that works.

Re: 1035 Printing User Codes

From: Graham Sent: 1/3/2003 7:09 AM Here's the deal.... In order to do this with printing, you CAN NOT use the Ricoh RPCS drivers, these drivers will only allow you to enter the user code for the printer once and then it stays static in that pc, the only way to change it is to uninstall and reinstall the driver. You CAN, however change the user code on the fly in the PCL drivers both PCL 5 and PCL 6. To do this, you have to change the user code within the properties each time you print. This is

Re: 3800 CMF Problem, need help

From: Jim Stocker Sent: 6/10/2002 6:08 AM The official answer that we’ve received from Ricoh, is that only the black DVU is used for B&W, and when it receives a color page, all 4 DVU’s are engaged, but they don’t disengage due a potential speed issue. My thought is if you can make it engage for color pages, make them disengage if the client wants it to. Anyway, in your specific situation, why not have them reverse the page order, so the B&W prints first? Cheers. Jim Stocker

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago, The First Week of March 2008

In a few of threads that were posted for Production Copiers I see the cost per page was .0039 and .004.  Never, ever did I think that A3 black MFP's would go that low.  After seeing many bid quotes would it be far fetched to think that black could go down to .0025?
I guess for manufacturers or dealerships that aren't doing well, offering such low cost per page pricing on bids can get you cash flow on the short term. However it's going to bite them in the ass long term.  I read a report just a few days ago that placements in the US have dropped 6% since 2015 in the US market. Something to think about?  I wonder if that numbers covers all of the niche type boxes that we didn't have year ago.  Enjoy the threads from ten years ago this week.

Danka brings back memories also since the Danka name is now gone also.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Canon bought Danka, right?

Enjoy these threads from ten years ago this week on the Print4Pay Hotel.

The deal would allow Kodak to shed its strategically unimportant and marginally profitable Office Imaging business while making Danka a much larger player in an industry that has been consolidating. Danka would be the principal

This Week in the Copier Industry Ten Years Ago, The First Week of February 2008

Really, has it been only ten years since our MFP's incorporated color scanning?   Seems like we've had it forever.  One of the threads from this post tells about the Ricoh MP4000 which came with standard color scanning.

For me 2008 marks the start of the Great Recession here in the US.  Most of my business at that time was in the AEC market.  Thinking back, I lost almost 40% of my accounts to the Great Recession, some just closed up shop, while others went out of business.  Far as I'm concerned I did not see a comeback until late 2015.  I never want to go through that again.

Rival printer maker Seiko Epson left its forecasts for the year to March unchanged, despite strong quarterly results, citing an uncertain economy. Slowing US demand prompted Ricoh to cut its 2007-08 outlook. Canon had

I'm thinking maybe HP, if they can't cut a deal for Ikon. Ricoh is still buried in the Lanier, IBM buys. Canon would really piss off Ikon if they made a move. KonicaMinolta does not have the financial strength nor the personel to pull it off. Xerox is still working out the bugs with Global. Hp maybe the solution.

Danka is dead... I have heard rumors that Danka may split when they do get sold. Konica Minolta is looking at the commercial business. Though I cannot confirm it. It may make sense for Ricoh PPBG whom is funded through Ricoh Japan to look at buying the High volume portion of the business. Considering that they have a contract in place with Kodak. I do know they just battled hard to keep a very highly regarded Solutions Engineer from going to Ricoh PPBG the day he was suppose to report in.

It's kind of like pay a little now or pay a lot later. The problem is that may IT administrators prefer this method b/c it makes their installation more

I think the next time a prospect tells me this, I'm going to tell them we'll do it, but only if they provide us the competition's proposal. This way

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago (First Week of December 2007)

There's an interesting thread below about an RBS sales person that person accepted $3,500 from a copier sales person so that RBS could win that bid of 73 copiers.  Which raises in interesting question about gifts, trips and prizes to a person that works for a corporation if they buy their copiers from xyz dealer.

It's my understanding that any gift, trip or prize is then the property of the corporation and not the person (decision maker).  Yet, we find some dealers openly engaging in offering these items for purchasing their copiers.

I'm thinking this would make a great topic for discussion on the forums.

Just a word of warning, you would be fired on the spot if you sold equipment on the side while working for my company, regardless of who gets the maintenance agreement. Selling equipment for one company (you) while employed for another is a serious breech of contract and would not be tolerated with most companies. It really is no different than if you sold copiers for one company while employed for another.
