Great post. Sounds like the frustration level is at a boiling point. One thing I can offer is in regards to the delivery/install fee, this is not as scalable as you might think. But in my time at a dealership the company president, sales managers, and I designed a plan that would scale based on speed segment and quantity. So, with some TLC, your company should have some wiggle room here rather than just stamping a flat fee on everything.The other thing we did was bundle the price into the

PPDM Invalid Index Error

I have set up Omnipage Batch Manager from PPDM to monitor a folder for incoming faxes. These are multi-page PDF files. The process monitors the folder, picks up the multi-page pdfs and converts them to single page pdfs and transfers them to another folder. This works well. However, I have had several instances where the process only transfers the first page of each and gives an Invalid Index for the remaining. We just replaced a customer's Canon with a Savin MP5002. This is a large medical office which receives hundreds of faxes per day. The Canon was forwarding the faxes to a folder in Paper Port that they use to route the information into their EMR software. There is the tasklfa 2550ci which is discontinued, or the taskalfa 2551ci. 2550ci doesn't have dsdp capability. 2551ci is much more versatile. There some other cool features.

One of my accounts is complaining that the time it take the printer to process any print files is much longer than the MP C2551 we replaced. The volume did not warranty replacing with the MP C2553, plus the customer needed to save a few bucks. Is anyone else having an issue with this system?

I can see these being very cool for libraries, information kiosks and other public areas. It's basically a fully functional web-connected tablet with print/scan/fax capabilities. That's where I'm excited to sell these. But in a corporate environment? Not so sure... #1 I would like to read a whitepaper on the security risks of such an open platform... We're using the Ricoh PCL6, no infrastructure updates that I know of. Customer is complaining about print processing time from all applications.All we did was replace the 2551 with the 2003. Processors in bothRicoh devicesare equal in specs.

Sharp MX 4101 color alignment issue

I have a Sharp 4101 that prints just fine on 8.5X11 but when the customer prints 11X17 the color alignment is off and it gets worse the closer it gets to the trailing edge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have a customer with a Savin MPC305. This medical office wants to print from an android tablet. I have downloaded the Smart Device Print app on the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro SMP-900 and they can print from web pages. However, when they try to print patient data from their secure site (https). The app just hangs and you have to restart the tablet. The hotline first told me that SSL was not supported and that they could escalate to "solutions" to see if they could rework the app. "Solutions

I would absolutely disagree. Whether or not a machine is easy-to-use is a huge factor for most customers, at least ones that listen to input from their users and don't just go with whatever is the fastest cheapest. I've sold a lot of Ricoh equipment to displace Xerox or Konica Minolta systems that customers thought was too hard to use. If a UI is flashy but difficult to navigate for users, it offers no redeeming value, but if it has sizzle, intuitive makes user interaction simple, it's a huge

I have a weird situation where a customer had a Savin C9120 from us and upgraded to the MPC2003. Not long after install they began having issues where the computers were saying the printer was offline and they could not print. Restarting the print spooler seemed to resolve the issue. Mostly Windows 8 machines but they were printing fine to the other model in the past. There is a Samsung Mobile Printing app in the iTunes AppStore that would allow users to do this. Most manufacturers have their own apps for both iOS Andriod at this point. It doesn't look like these new models are AirPrint compatible yet, but I'm sure Samsung is working on it with Apple since they have a number of previous models that do work with AirPrint.

The only feature Iam disappointed with, is the low speed they have kept. Max 35ppm for colour A3 and 53ppm for B/W A. I was expecting speeds of around 70pp. As for Samsung technology I can say their previous models were already advanced. I remember the one deal and how could I forget, the owner of the company told me, "I will never ever buy a Ricoh". Wow...they also make HP's e-Print. I wonder if they're doing this to lock other manufacturers from using the technology or to build up valuable licensing revenue. Despite Samsung's constant battle with Apple (both for market share and in court), Samsung makes chips for a lot of Apple products, so they have no problem taking competitor's money for use of their technology.

Ok, customer got a new desktop mac, he had a pc. His personal printer a ricoh has PSIII. He is telling me that he is running Parallels Desktop for running windows 8.1 on a MAC. He wants to load the print driver, but is not finding one on the internet. I'm at a loss here, shouldn't he just be able to load the PSIII driver for MAC and everything should be good?

Great post! 11. Assign a rep a topic (round robin) to present at the next weekly sales meeting. Rules- show the team a new selling feature / function / solution, present it as you would to a client, and keep it short ( 5 minutes max) sweet. After presenting, stand and receive constructive criticism from the rest of the team. Keep it fun and informative- but don't take it the task lightly. This will improve product knowledge, research skills, and presentation skills.

I like 11.!! I even like the rules better. Your thread also reminded me to add this. 12. Reps, especially new reps would be in charge of training their customers on how to use the system. At first, they would travel with the solutions engineer or (me)and watch them train the customer on how to print, copy and scan.

Art, Parallels is a virtual Machine that exists within the Mac, but it is just like any other Windows 8 PC. You need a Windows 8 PS Driver (if that is the language on the Ricoh). Hope this helps! Vince PS: I run Windows 7 in Parallelson my Mac Airbook.

Gotta go back a REALLY long time in the industry, so many won't even know this: the Kodak 100 150. Really reliable machines that heavily created industry disruption with Xerox having dominant market share and IBM climbing fast in the mid-70's and then a new player, Kodak, opened the door for many other later players to enter.

We've had a tough time with getting this system to run envelopes! The unit is spec'd to run envelopes, however, we had then constantly jamming for commercial number 10's. Your dealership is shooting itself in the ass, as is mine and most others who do not pay monthly recurring revenue commissions. It doesn't matter whether it comes from a traditional service agreement, an MPS (does just mean printers) agreement or Managed IT Services agreement. It should all be paid a residual. Again. I agree! When there is a maintenance agreement question with any of my accounts now, I hand it off to our client care team. I could get involved, but won't because I'm not seeing any revenue on it. In fact, there have been many deals where I just recommend the basic warranty. Not that I want that, however in some cases it's easier to get the order, than fight pricing on maintenance after you've won the battle with the copier. I was at a point where I was getting about 500 per month on

Art, eCopy has the best catalog of connectors for scanning. I think at last count there were over 250 connectors, some made by eCopy (Nuance) and many others by third party. I haven't sold NSI's AutoStore in a while so you may be better at addressing their connectors. It is interesting to note that the low cost for the entry level scanning products are effecting the Canon UniFLOW product. In our industry, companies hope and pray that the sales department can at least break even. In other words, the profit generated by hardware sales only pays for the generation of hardware sales. In most cases if the clicks aren't profitable, there is no reason for the sale. Selling hardware is our job but it is for the profit

I'm always amazed when I visit medical facilities how much faxing they still do. Nearly all of my business clients have abandoned faxing for the most part but not medical. To me there is nothing less secure than faxing but for some reason the industry with the most supposed interest in information privacy is the one still stuck in the stone ages using fax machines.

service manager what do you think? If you can make that work, now as a salesperson I can offer weekend service and have a competitive advantage. What if that increased sales by 15%, that would increase service revenue by 15%. If you could offer weekend service and not gouge the customer by doing so you would have a distinct advantage and a great story to tell. Your dealership is customer focused. You are available when the customer needs you.

In the New York market place with my dealership that I had in the eighties and early nineties. We hooked up with a shipping agent, they handled much of the shipping traffic in and out of New York and New Jersey Harbors. We had to be on call 24 hours and weekends to service copiers on those ships. Can tell you that we charged double to be on call for weekends and after hours, we have half of the money to the tech that wanted to be on call. Back then we were charging $125 per hour. We also

How many ships would buy a particular manufacturer based on 24/7 service at just one port. First of all, from my experience, doctors seem to be notoriously cheap when it comes to office equipment. The thought of giving their staff decent office equipment is not on their radar. They'd rather invest in the latest medical equipment or gadget, Mercedes/BMW, or hobby. That being said, re: HP printers, depending on the model, some of those older printers (like any in the 4000's) print pretty darn cheaply. SharePoint(OnPrem. or Online), Docuware with PlanetPress, PDFShareForms. Both Kyocera and Xerox (NSI subset) have some great connectors for capture/print with these. SharePoint needs to be looked at as a platform for building apps for document management and BI with dash-boarding, workflow, collaboration and social capabilities. The ability to offer all of that functionality does come with a price which if deployed well is worth the investment.

I don't think AirPrint will ever be available for the 03 series. I think it came down to Apple wanting too much and Ricoh deciding to do their own thing with Smart Device Print Scan. We use the Lantronix xPrintserver and have had good success with it. It does suck that you can buy a printer for under $200 with wireless capability and some form of air printing whether it be Airprint or something from the manufacturer like send to an email address and it is printed and we're still a little

I'm now trying to send a fax from one MFP to another over the internet using internet fax and have it receive and print the fax. Everything looks like it should work but I get an error when trying a manual receive that the email reception settings are incorrect. If anyone has a step by step I would love to get this working.

Art, I don't know that you could create a program on the home screen for this because the end destinations would probably vary. It just seems weird that they are making scanning capabilities available under the Facsimile mode instead of faxing available under the scanning mode. Scanning comes standard on most systems and faxing remains an option...all documents are scanned (converted to digital images off of the platen or through the feeder) but not all are faxed. Hey Gang, I recently heard a rumor that Ricoh Canada is aggressively targeting its own BW MIF for replacement with its own CLR A3 MFPs, reportedly offering CLR models for the price of BW. Although this is just a rumor, Ricoh's 45-69ppm A3 CLR MFP sales have really spiked in Canada, so this promo/initiative could explain the increase. Art, Sounds like you have an old school customer here. I have around 450 large format digital printers in the field 95% of which use AutoCAD and not one of them batch print dwg. files. What version of AutoCAD does he have? The reason I ask is most of the newer versions allow you to batch publish to pdf or dwf.

As a rule, I tell all customers to calibrate after a large high pressure or low pressure event. Do they do it? Not sure but before I give a demo, I always calibrate the copier and printer. Let me know

Hello, There is a utility called ccScan. Just google it. It is a simple Windows based app that allows users to scan directly to Salesforce, Google, Box, Google Drive, Sharepoint and other cloud repositories. And here's the kicker..it's only 180 a year per PC and installs in 5 minutes. No major ecopy server based complicated issues.
