Savin 3406WD w/ Plotworks

So like most Ricoh/Savin/Lanier reps I know we all hate the fact that Ricoh increased the price of the 3406WD system and included plotworks software instead of making it an option. I recently was working with an Electrical Contractor and the Oce' dealer told him we could not do batch printing on the Savin.He would not purchase the system if it would not do batch printing. Soafter a call to OpCenter who makes it, I set up a webX with the customer and was amazed at the what all the software did

I was in our managers meeting a while back. As most may have seen we are a multi line dealer; Ricoh, Canon, Samsung. We got to talking about machines and service and it was brought up from our VP of Service how much he and our techs loved the Canon's from a service standpoint. His comment was that when the sales reps put a ricoh in the field they have to chase after it but when a Canon is placed in the field we can pretty much forget about it. I don't have a problem with the Ricoh equipment

We sell Ricoh and I too would love to sell both lines but would I give up Ricoh to sell Canon? No way and I guarantee that Canon reps around here hear about Ricoh loyalty a lot more than they would care to. Most loyalty is mostly based on familiarity and any product today supported by a good service team and knowledgeable sales staff will probably be happy.

We don't sell both lines, but I would absolutely love to. I have some customers that swear by Ricoh equipment, but I guarantee there aren't as many of those as accounts that I was unable to win because the customer wanted Canon equipment. That is the only brand I come across on a regular basis that users seem to have absolute loyalty to.

Yeah I don't want to give up Ricoh thats for sure, because we have lots of clients who, like the canon, will no take anything but a Ricoh.

My second largest client buys $300k every 4 years will only buy Ricoh, so it would be tough to give up Ricoh in favor of Canon, but if I could only pick one, I would choose Canon based on what I hear in the market. I would kill to have both.

The embossed effect is 'normal' for all Oki printers - comes from the very high fuser pressure as you noted. This is actually preferable for flat sheets, and the Oki is an office machine never intended for envelope production. As someone who owns 10 Oki 9800's and produces 1.8 million envelopes for the trade, I have only had 2 customer rejections in the past 5 years of operation. I completely agree. Before we were a Canon dealer I called on so many customers who would not even talk to us because they were so loyal to Canon, many saying we had no chance to earn their business until we had Canon. Several have come on board with us over the last few years since we got the product.

We've had some issues with the software, most if not all were resolved with a recent update. I too agree, that the software should be an option. We are at a crossroads with the W3601, meaning, what is the upgrade path? I just recently upgraded a W3601 to a W3601. I was lucky, because the account is very loyal, understanding and no one else could get in. Of course that will not be the same with additional accounts. We, the reps need to put pressure on our sales managers, VP of Sales and dealer

It makes me wonder if Ricoh wants to be in the wide format space anymore. I can tell you in out market the pricing of the oce and kip systems continues to go down while the Ricoh continues to go up.

I just email our DSM to see if he could share anything. I hadn't even thought about trying to upgrade a 3406 with a 3406. Most of my clients purcahse these outright but I couldn't imagine going in and telling them here is your new Savin 3406 and its the same as your current 3406 except you get a software piece that you don't really need....

I need to read up on it a little more but it appears to mirror the Samsung and Kyocera solution from what I can tell by reading on paper. Teachers create their test on the computer, make the answer key, students take the test, and then scan back through to the system which grades it and provides analytics on questions, grades, etc. I was wondering if Gravic was making all these for everyone or if Canon's is actually a Canon product. Kyocera has had the Teaching Assistant App. for at quite a long time. The teacher simply puts in the number of students, number of test questions and selects the number of selections. ABCDE. It sounds a lot like the Canon solution is probably along the same lines. Teaching Assistant generates reports and captures the student name and signature for the report. She went and bought a new machine from someone else but her lease had already renewed. She immediately started calling and emailing me about how to fix it. We have probably put it on 3 machines since it came out andthe funny thing was it was our sales rep who is almost 70 years old. He loves that panel.My younger guys could care less it seems. King of backwards in my mind. I haven't quite found the practicality of it other than making everything "look" like a tablet. If they could make it as functional as the new Samsung 10.1 tablet on the MFP's it may become more practical. Just my $0.02

Yes, I think a BYOD would benefit from this feature. The administrator can share the printer with users and they can print from various mobile devices. It relieves some of the ownership of having to maintain hardware and provide requirements on what can and cannot connect to a print server and driver installation.

Great post. Sounds like the frustration level is at a boiling point. One thing I can offer is in regards to the delivery/install fee, this is not as scalable as you might think. But in my time at a dealership the company president, sales managers, and I designed a plan that would scale based on speed segment and quantity. So, with some TLC, your company should have some wiggle room here rather than just stamping a flat fee on everything.The other thing we did was bundle the price into the

PPDM Invalid Index Error

I have set up Omnipage Batch Manager from PPDM to monitor a folder for incoming faxes. These are multi-page PDF files. The process monitors the folder, picks up the multi-page pdfs and converts them to single page pdfs and transfers them to another folder. This works well. However, I have had several instances where the process only transfers the first page of each and gives an Invalid Index for the remaining. Savin MP5002 Fax Forwarding

We just replaced a customer's Canon with a Savin MP5002. This is a large medical office which receives hundreds of faxes per day. The Canon was forwarding the faxes to a folder in Paper Port that they use to route the information into their EMR software. There is the tasklfa 2550ci which is discontinued, or the taskalfa 2551ci. 2550ci doesn't have dsdp capability. 2551ci is much more versatile. There some other cool features.

MP C2003SP Slow Print

One of my accounts is complaining that the time it take the printer to process any print files is much longer than the MP C2551 we replaced. The volume did not warranty replacing with the MP C2553, plus the customer needed to save a few bucks. Is anyone else having an issue with this system?

We're using the Ricoh PCL6, no infrastructure updates that I know of. Customer is complaining about print processing time from all applications.All we did was replace the 2551 with the 2003. Processors in bothRicoh devicesare equal in specs.

I have downloaded the Smart Device Print app on the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro SMP-900 and they can print from web pages. However, when they try to print patient data from their secure site (https). Whether or not a machine is easy-to-use is a huge factor for most customers, at least ones that listen to input from their users and don't just go with whatever is the fastest cheapest. I've sold a lot of Ricoh equipment to displace Xerox or Konica Minolta systems that customers thought was too hard to use. If a UI is flashy but difficult to navigate for users, it offers no redeeming value, but if it has sizzle, intuitive makes user interaction simple, it's a huge

Savin MPC2003 printer offline

I have a weird situation where a customer had a Savin C9120 from us and upgraded to the MPC2003. Not long after install they began having issues where the computers were saying the printer was offline and they could not print. Restarting the print spooler seemed to resolve the issue. Mostly Windows 8 machines but they were printing fine to the other model in the past. I called the hotline and they told me to uncheck SNMP status enabled in the TCP/IP port configuration on the computers. Since

There is a Samsung Mobile Printing app in the iTunes AppStore that would allow users to do this. Most manufacturers have their own apps for both iOS Andriod at this point. It doesn't look like these new models are AirPrint compatible yet, but I'm sure Samsung is working on it with Apple since they have a number of previous models that do work with AirPrint.

The only feature Iam disappointed with, is the low speed they have kept. Max 35ppm for colour A3 and 53ppm for B/W A. I was expecting speeds of around 70pp. As for Samsung technology I can say their previous models were already advanced. I come from a 15 years’ experience with Ricoh and found the Samsung machines very interesting and easy to setup with a wide range of options for the users. Are you the leads you receive local or nation-wide? I receive both, in fact two of my biggest deals this year came from a blog I wrote and a post on the forums. I remember the one deal and how could I forget, the owner of the company told me, "I will never ever buy a Ricoh". During the last 8 months I sold him an MP EXPRO1157, a used MP EXPRO1357 and an MP C6502!

Wow...they also make HP's e-Print. I wonder if they're doing this to lock other manufacturers from using the technology or to build up valuable licensing revenue. Despite Samsung's constant battle with Apple (both for market share and in court), Samsung makes chips for a lot of Apple products, so they have no problem taking competitor's money for use of their technology.

Need help with MAC printing with Parallels Desktop

Ok, customer got a new desktop mac, he had a pc. His personal printer a ricoh has PSIII. He is telling me that he is running Parallels Desktop for running windows 8.1 on a MAC. He wants to load the print driver, but is not finding one on the internet. I'm at a loss here, shouldn't he just be able to load the PSIII driver for MAC and everything should be good?

Great post! 11. Assign a rep a topic (round robin) to present at the next weekly sales meeting. Rules- show the team a new selling feature / function / solution, present it as you would to a client, and keep it short ( 5 minutes max) sweet. After presenting, stand and receive constructive criticism from the rest of the team. Keep it fun and informative- but don't take it the task lightly. This will improve product knowledge, research skills, and presentation skills.

I like 11.!! I even like the rules better. Your thread also reminded me to add this. 12. Reps, especially new reps would be in charge of training their customers on how to use the system. At first, they would travel with the solutions engineer or (me)and watch them train the customer on how to print, copy and scan.

Art, Parallels is a virtual Machine that exists within the Mac, but it is just like any other Windows 8 PC. You need a Windows 8 PS Driver (if that is the language on the Ricoh). Hope this helps! Vince PS: I run Windows 7 in Parallelson my Mac Airbook.

Gotta go back a REALLY long time in the industry, so many won't even know this: the Kodak 100 150. Really reliable machines that heavily created industry disruption with Xerox having dominant market share and IBM climbing fast in the mid-70's and then a new player, Kodak, opened the door for many other later players to enter.

Ricoh MP C6502 & Envelopes

We've had a tough time with getting this system to run envelopes! The unit is spec'd to run envelopes, however, we had then constantly jamming for commercial number 10's. But, today, I was able to get an SE involved and we got it!! We had to make the driver settings, but more importantly we had to change a setting in "user tools" under the "printer settings". I have installed the Ricoh App for Google Cloud Print which allows you to install a google printer to their cloud server without having to use a PC as a host machine.
