Spoke to buyer zone yesterday and had a nice conversation with the lady about how the leads coming through were garbage and aren't in the business of selling 300.00 mfp's. I told her their biggest mistake was getting rid of the pricing thresholds. She said some of their copier vendors request those garbage 300.00 leads which I find hard to believe. I told her we were going to drop the service unless she did something for us. In the end she said they would credit any lead that we couldn't get in

I agree with dr print. I always ask who my competition is and I know them well enough now to ask which rep it is. I've found lately with one company the owner has been traveling on appointments with a new rep. I've been using this to our advantage as the owner of that company is quiet an aged fellow that knows little about our industry anymore. Find out who your competition is and if that company is listed, ask how they came about selecting them (since you mentioned the incumbent is out

I've worked remotely for last 4 years, and if you feel the need to track via GPS, Sales force, etc.... then you hired the wrong person: period. Also, that's not managing, that's babysitting a salary. Having meetings in person is simply a waste of your time and theirs. Meet over "go to" meeting and conf calls. I see my boss in person once or twice a year, have been way over plan every year. If you try to manage them like your other office folks, it WILL NOT work. You cannot micro manage a remote

The product code for the fax that goes on a MPC3002 is D643. If they get the parts book for a D643 they can order all the parts in there and you will have a fax option. There looks to be about 13 parts they would need to order. I have had to do this before when we have solda used machine and the accessories are no longer available. I believe this should be everything they need but for sure have your local tech verify.

Thanks Art. I've tried and can't seem to make it work. I can program the bypass for Driver/Command for paper size but I don't see how to make it the priority which is what I think is necessary. The customer believes that since this is possible on a printer it should be possible on an MFP but I think it might be apples and oranges.

So I tried them out from October until January and Jason was right on the money. For the first month two months the quality of leads were semi-decent, $27.00 per lead, won two (although couldn't get them lease approved) They had a minimum dollar thresh hold of $1K for hardware and for some reason removed it from their criteria in December. It went from legitimate A3 and small A4 to people looking for, at best, a $300 Staples printer, price shopping Costco for home office and used equipment. It

This may end up being a blessing for the Sharp copier division. If the division is sold to a company with money, they could be in a more competitive situation. Their new products are very strong. Overall, the copier division has been on a positive swing the last 2 years.

Focusing on gaining more market-share in the copier industry is a fool's game, unless you're the manufacturer. Dealers that hope to be around profitable in the future have to find alternative revenue streams, because the fact of the matter is that not everyone needs a $15,000 A3 MFP when in many cases a $1,000 A4 MFP will do. For the dealer community, it has to be about capturing profitable recurring revenue streams, whether that be through SaaS solutions, MPS, Managed Services, BPO, etc

We got to talking about machines and service and it was brought up from our VP of Service how much he and our techs loved the Canon's from a service standpoint. His comment was that when the sales reps put a ricoh in the field they have to chase after it but when a Canon is placed in the field we can pretty much forget about it. We sell Ricoh and I too would love to sell both lines but would I give up Ricoh to sell Canon? No way and I guarantee that Canon reps around here hear about Ricoh loyalty a lot more than they would care to. Most loyalty is mostly based on familiarity and any product today supported by a good service team and knowledgeable sales staff will probably be happy.

We don't sell both lines, but I would absolutely love to. I have some customers that swear by Ricoh equipment, but I guarantee there aren't as many of those as accounts that I was unable to win because the customer wanted Canon equipment. That is the only brand I come across on a regular basis that users seem to have absolute loyalty to.

My second largest client buys $300k every 4 years will only buy Ricoh, so it would be tough to give up Ricoh in favor of Canon, but if I could only pick one, I would choose Canon based on what I hear in the market. I would kill to have both.

The embossed effect is 'normal' for all Oki printers - comes from the very high fuser pressure as you noted. This is actually preferable for flat sheets, and the Oki is an office machine never intended for envelope production. As someone who owns 10 Oki 9800's and produces 1.8 million envelopes for the trade, I have only had 2 customer rejections in the past 5 years of operation. The new Oki I evaluated was the 941, and the effect was a little less apparent but still there. As Art stated, the

Before we were a Canon dealer I called on so many customers who would not even talk to us because they were so loyal to Canon, many saying we had no chance to earn their business until we had Canon. We've had some issues with the software, most if not all were resolved with a recent update. I too agree, that the software should be an option. We are at a crossroads with the W3601, meaning, what is the upgrade path? I just recently upgraded a W3601 to a W3601. I was lucky, because the account is very loyal, understanding and no one else could get in. Of course that will not be the same with additional accounts. Most of my clients purcahse these outright but I couldn't imagine going in and telling them here is your new Savin 3406 and its the same as your current 3406 except you get a software piece that you don't really need....

I need to read up on it a little more but it appears to mirror the Samsung and Kyocera solution from what I can tell by reading on paper. Teachers create their test on the computer, make the answer key, students take the test, and then scan back through to the system which grades it and provides analytics on questions, grades, etc. I was wondering if Gravic was making all these for everyone or if Canon's is actually a Canon product. She went and bought a new machine from someone else but her lease had already renewed. She immediately started calling and emailing me about how to fix it. King of backwards in my mind. I haven't quite found the practicality of it other than making everything "look" like a tablet. If they could make it as functional as the new Samsung 10.1 tablet on the MFP's it may become more practical. Just my $0.02

At first glance it is cool to be able to scan to cloud apps like Dropbox, Evernote, etc... but then, it seems like it is more time consuming to enter the information at the MFP. Yes, I think a BYOD would benefit from this feature. The administrator can share the printer with users and they can print from various mobile devices. It relieves some of the ownership of having to maintain hardware and provide requirements on what can and cannot connect to a print server and driver installation.

Sometimes I have corporate brochure and sometimes I don't. I very rarely leave a copier brochure, but I always leave of business card. Great post. Sounds like the frustration level is at a boiling point. One thing I can offer is in regards to the delivery/install fee, this is not as scalable as you might think. But in my time at a dealership the company president, sales managers, and I designed a plan that would scale based on speed segment and quantity. I have set up Omnipage Batch Manager from PPDM to monitor a folder for incoming faxes. These are multi-page PDF files. The process monitors the folder, picks up the multi-page pdfs and converts them to single page pdfs and transfers them to another folder. This works well. However, I have had several instances where the process only transfers the first page of each and gives an Invalid Index for the remaining. We just replaced a customer's Canon with a Savin MP5002. This is a large medical office which receives hundreds of faxes per day. The Canon was forwarding the faxes to a folder in Paper Port that they use to route the information into their EMR software. There is the tasklfa 2550ci which is discontinued, or the taskalfa 2551ci. 2550ci doesn't have dsdp capability. 2551ci is much more versatile. There some other cool features.

I have sold Canon, Sharp, Konica, Kyocera. If samsung is just now talking about a mobile app, they are way behind. Which they have been for sometime. Kyocera has the best mobile app hands down. It even works with off brand devices on the network. HP printers.....manage print services. See where I am going with this?

MP C2003SP Slow Print

One of my accounts is complaining that the time it take the printer to process any print files is much longer than the MP C2551 we replaced. The volume did not warranty replacing with the MP C2553, plus the customer needed to save a few bucks. Is anyone else having an issue with this system?

I can see these being very cool for libraries, information kiosks and other public areas. It's basically a fully functional web-connected tablet with print/scan/fax capabilities. That's where I'm excited to sell these. But in a corporate environment? Not so sure... #1 I would like to read a whitepaper on the security risks of such an open platform... Are you the apps limited, or could I install a Facebook app and print off all of my friends photos? And #,2 I wonder if the heavy customization

We're using the Ricoh PCL6, no infrastructure updates that I know of. Customer is complaining about print processing time from all applications.All we did was replace the 2551 with the 2003. Processors in bothRicoh devicesare equal in specs.

Sharp MX 4101 color alignment issue

I have a Sharp 4101 that prints just fine on 8.5X11 but when the customer prints 11X17 the color alignment is off and it gets worse the closer it gets to the trailing edge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mobile Print Problem

We have a customer with a Savin MPC305. This medical office wants to print from an android tablet. I have downloaded the Smart Device Print app on the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro SMP-900 and they can print from web pages. However, when they try to print patient data from their secure site (https). The app just hangs and you have to restart the tablet. The hotline first told me that SSL was not supported and that they could escalate to "solutions" to see if they could rework the app. "Solutions
