Better Call Art "The Casual Follow up"

I've been taught not to contact someone with a subject line or text in the email that refers to "checking in", "following up". When contacting you need to have some new information for the client. However in many cases what happens if you have nothing new and you still need to do that follow up?

3 Reasons Office Printers are Essential for Sales Materials

People think continued technological advancements are turning the world fully digital. Since as early as the 1970s, humans have speculated that the future would be completely paperless. The idea seems to be founded on the thought that computers made it easier to think and process information, eventually making printed documents outdated.

Even Stanley Kubrick’s classic film, 2001: A Space Odyssey showed the future and space travel as a paperless future. A 2001 newspaper was merely something to be viewed digitally on a television screen.

But rather than a sudden or even steady switch to a completely digital world, 1980 through 2000 saw paper use increase. In 2017, over four hundred million metric tons of paper were used by business offices alone. Experts predict paper use worldwide will continue to remain high for the foreseeable future – reaching around four hundred and seventy-six million tons by 2032.

While paper remains a key resource, the growth of digital has not lagged. US adults currently average over thirteen hours of digital media consumption per day. Those interactions include emails and social media as well as the PDFs, presentations, and other items regularly viewed throughout the workday. And businesses attempting to leverage digital communications have to compete with the growing clutter and digital fatigue.

Oddly enough, those brochures, direct mail pieces, and presentations that used to get tossed out with the rest of the junk mail have become a novelty. And providing printed references might just be the differentiator a business needs to break through the digital noise.

Printed Materials Provide Effective Impressions

importance of print paper to young workforce

When it comes to making an impression, print is the best option. Over three-quarters (88%) of Millennials believe the information in printed text is more official than anything provided digitally. But trustworthiness is not the only advantage print materials provide.

Studies show humans read printed items seventy to eighty percent faster than digital materials. They also retain more of the information because complicated information that requires more concentration is followed better when it is presented in a printed format. Part of this phenomenon is due to a lower level of stress as reading printed items has been shown to reduce overall stress by sixty-eight percent.

This level of reduced stress, better understanding, and faster perusal is a win for sales and marketing teams. It is especially beneficial for businesses with products and services that are more complicated and require additional information.

Printed Materials Lead to Better Brand Building

Businesses want their targeted audiences to have their brand, products, and services top-of-mind. But that might be hard when companies are competing for keyword share with competitors in the market. And it’s not just keywords for which businesses must compete now, it’s screen time and share of attention.

When it comes to keeping brand names at the forefront, nothing can compete with printed materials. Seventy-five percent of consumers have been proven to remember brand names better if they have seen them on a printed document.

And, when it comes to making sure prospects understand what makes a company a better choice than the competition, there is nothing quite like printed brochures, flyers, and presentations. Prospects can process printed text 60,000 times faster than digital. Even better, complete understanding takes twenty-one percent less cognitive effort. The result is faster, better communication that sticks.

Printed marketing and sales materials provide more engagement

The digital realm seems more dynamic. There are certainly more options for delivery, including video, interactive software, email, and chat. But most of these digital formats are mentally processed in the same way.

By triggering more sensory input, printed materials provide more engagement than anything standard digital can provide. While the digital space leverages sight and sound to its fullest, print leverages something called the textual landscape.

The brain sees and processes words and letters as physical objects. Coupled with the action of turning the pages of a book, brochure, or presentation, the brain registers the materials as taking another step down a walking trail. It then maps the information it absorbs more fully in the mind, bundling additional neurons that increase recall, understanding, and longevity.

While digital delivery may be faster and more convenient, sales and marketing teams that leverage the truly interactive process triggered through printed materials gain an unexpected edge.

Reliable Office Printers are Essential to Sales and Marketing Efforts

While digital advertising and sales materials may be a growing and essential trend, paperless interactions end up making the marketing and sales processes more difficult. Business offices with active sales and marketing teams need a way to provide printed documentation and reliable printers to support their efforts.

Printers help sales representatives give prospects and current clients a better way to differentiate and promote brand, products, and services, through printed brochures, flyers, and presentations. These printed materials help sales and marketing create better, more robust, and more memorable interactions that help build customer base and increase sales for the business.

One of the best ways to ensure reliable, cost-effective printer access is to partner with a managed print services provider. These businesses use their expertise to provide the right equipment, supplies, maintenance, and service to keep the business’s sales and marketing departments running smoothly. With the right printers and materials, the business will be able to create everything needed to provide unique communications that capture attention and keep the brand top-of-mind.

Attention Sales World... It Has Become So Easy To Connect But How Many Of You Are Truly Connecting?

"We live in a technological universe in which we are always communicating. And yet we have sacrificed conversation for mere connection."

What has happened to conversational competence?

We live and operate in a hyper-connected society. Our ability to connect with people around the world has exploded. It's never been as easy as it is right now to connect with people.

What's become more prevalent is how difficult it is to truly connect with meaning, any kind of substance and with sincerity.

Technology has supplanted face-to-face intimacy. With devices in hand or fingers on a keyboard, we can avoid human exchange and any potential awkwardness, fear or anxiety.

We are more connected than ever before through our smartphone, the internet, instant messaging and social media.

We pay more attention to the alerts on our phone than the person right in front of us.

Technology was supposed to connect us, bringing us closer together, however; in many instances it seems to be having the reverse effect.

We are becoming a society of disconnection as opposed to connection.

To my sales community... Are you more connected or less connected to your clients? I will let you think about that one for a moment.

According to MIT professor and researcher Sherry Turkle, author of the book Reclaiming Conversation, devices interfere with conversations, empathy, imagination, patience, resilience, inner life and mental health. Studies show that empathy is decreasing rapidly in rising generations.

Device dependency is stunting one's opportunity to build a human connection

Unfortunately, many are obsessed with quantity over quality, no width and no depth. I believe connecting has become shallow, superficial and ineffective.

Are you engaging in transformational conversations as opposed to transactional connections.

To my sales community, it’s about connecting in the right way, a heartfelt way. It's about engaging in two-way conversations by sharing meaningful value with each other.

It’s about immersing yourself in conversations with your clients through the giving and receiving of ideas and insights, with no limits on the range and depth of conversation.

You never will know where one conversation will lead you

Brené Brown goes onto say,

"I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship."

If relationships are important to you, please follow along with me, whether you are a sales leader or a salesperson, I ask you to simmer on this for a moment... How many of your clients are feeling alone? How many of your clients feel heard or even valued?

How many of you are truly connecting the human dots? How many of you are neglecting your clients? Would you even know?

Yes, this is heavy stuff, however; if your desire is long term sustainability in sales then start truly connecting and creating client sustainability.

“Communication is merely an exchange of information, but connection is an exchange of our humanity.”
Sean Stephenson

At this point, some of you might be asking yourself, where do I begin? Well, consider the following as a start.

DITCH THE SUPERFICIAL RELATIONSHIPS

According to The Oxford Dictionary, superficial is defined as “existing or occurring at or on the surface; not thorough, deep, or complete; lacking depth of character or understanding.” Let's pause on the last word, understanding is the key in talking about what a superficial relationship is lacking.

You will struggle to build upon and nurture a meaningful client relationship until you're willing to talk about real issues, sharing real problems.

How many of you are real, relevant or even relatable within your client relationships?

Building meaningful relationships and truly connecting with your clients is mission critical to your success. We as humans crave and value relationships.

Relationships are a part of human nature. It's wired in our DNA.

"The more you give to your clients, the more you will receive from your clients."

The time is now to pull back the covers and dig below the relationship surface.

Grab a sheet of paper and something to write with, as you read each question, I would like for you to honestly answer...

  • Are you personally engaging with your clients?
  • Are you authentically investing in building meaningful relationships?
  • What do you really know about your clients?
  • Do you know what their career aspirations are?
  • Do you know or have a sense of what's important to them?
  • What are their values?
  • What makes them angry?

So, tell me, what did you uncover?

If you struggle to connect with yourself, you will struggle to connect with your clients.

ALLOW YOURSELF TO BECOME VULNERABLE

Genuine connection is what we crave in our personal lives but why does this become so difficult in our professional lives?

"Connection and vulnerability are our constant reminders that we are all here for a reason. Our time here is short but our impacts are great."
Melissa Joyce

In a sales world where trust is at an all-time low, where many believe those in sales are full of B.S., it's those who are willing to love, cherish, care and show compassion for their clients that will reap the relational benefits.

You must be willing to overcome fear, angst, uncertainty and insecurities. You must be willing to accept the gift of vulnerability, as vulnerability will set you relationally free.

How well are you connected to your authentic self?

It's hard to become vulnerable with your clients if you fail to become vulnerable with yourself!

It's the bravado, brash and braggadocious mentalities that set up the perception of how we should act, what we should say and ultimately how we should feel. It's seemingly risky to throw caution to the wind and share our authentic self.

Melissa Joyce nails it,

"We must be willing to completely reveal layers of ourselves in order to reach an authentic, tangible connection with another soul. Vulnerability is in actuality connection in its invisible form."

BECOME MORE HUMAN AND LESS SALESY

You must find a way to connect with your clients, showing them why you’re unique. In a business world full of empty suits, ho-hum experiences and mediocrity, why should they continue to work with you, your products or service?

It's about humanness not "sales-isms", "salesyness" or"sales crapola".

Become more human by:

  • Having a personal conversation about what's important to your clients, leaving them feeling listened to and understood.
  • Helping your clients out of unconditional goodwill, not with how much commission can I make.
  • Offering sincere gratitude to your clients.
  • Sharing a personal experience with your clients involving laughter, or tear that leads to a hug.

If you hunger to achieve true sales excellence, it can't just be about you. It must be bigger than you. You must be driven by a personal mission to make your clients business world better.

Your success is not just about closing more deals, where you sit on the sales totem pole, or the size of your last commission check; it's about how well you connect, care and have sincere compassion for clients.

Without true connection relationships will never fully blossom.

Imagine this a bank is borrowing at .025 percent from fed and lending at .0375 to you and me. Thats a 50% percent "Pad" our industry marks up only 4-10% and most of that is eaten up by administrative costs. So, if you were to have a sales team that generated 160,000 per month, all were 60 months, then the "pad" or extra revenue to the company would be $6,680 per month and if that average was kep up for the year that would represent $80,160 in "pad" or extra revenue.

Yes and thats not much. Pays for maybe a Production SE, Lease admin or sales coordinator and part of a Sales Manager. Art it depends on how many reps whats the comp plan etc.. Do any reps voluntarily give back salaries when they sell little or nothing one or two months out of the year? I think not, the pad also covers these inevitable down months. If you want to be pure about it. Compare a straight commission position with actual dealer cost. I did it once and made the most money I ever made

Instead of padded rates, why not just mark the systems up higher to the salesperson, at least in this case the dealership would gain additional margins with purchases also.

ethical for the leasing company to go after full stream of payments plus residual in the case I described??? I don't begrudge the leasing company a fair return on their outlay of money but to want the full stream plus residual 4 weeks after funding is excessive. That's making 40% interest on their money for a one month investment. Would you be happy as the leasing partner???? I doubt it. MPS can take many forms and to suggest that any one form is somehow invald is unnecessary and I would suggest unwise. If we consider the MPS model that does not include hardware, then, technically, the MFP's can be considered to be already on an MPS program in that they are on a service and supply agreement that is billed somehow based on the clicks they run. To include printers and somehow blend the rate to one common rate takes away some of the purpose in my opinion, which is to migrate

Re: new Ricoh SP1000SF.

We have the Savin version in our showroom. Looks good. Same as the Savin 3815 fax, but has a platen also. Smells a little like a Samsung or Brother but documentation indicates its a Ricoh OEM. Feeder seems more reliable than the Savin AC205. A good tool to compete against the big box office supply chains and catalogue companies. Fits many needs, small laser printer, fax machine, convenience copier. With the price being so low any company can afford one. I guess the real question would be how

Xerox WC 7328

We have been running into this machine a lot. Any tips on defeating it? Also most of the competitive offers include 500 "free" color pages per month - any idea on how much xerox is building into the deal to cover this? Thanks!

font sizes differ in color when printed

mikefio22 (Guest) ·
I have a word document that when printed, the first letter of both words in the title come out a different color than the rest of the words. The font is the same, but the first two letters are at font size 100 compared to 80 for the rest of the words. But if I change all letters to 80, everything is fine. I have printed it on a C2525 (RPCS & PCL5c), CLP26 (RPCS, PCL5c and PS). the only time it worked is when i printed to the CLP26 PS. Has onyone else ran into this? Or have any suggestions on

Notification when forwarding

·
My customer has a Savin C2824 and would like all incoming faxes forwarded to a folder. Their IT support says they've seen a Kyocera Mita do this and send a notification to the person whose PC the folder is on. Does anyone know of an application that will do this? My other alternative I guess would be email notification. Any ideas?

Being a Ricoh/Kyocera dealer, we have out a bunch out in the market place. An they all are running great. So I don't know why other dealers are having problems, but we are not.

They only have one model, and that 3650w has been nothing but problems for us, not sure if it really matters if kyocera has a wide format or not. quote: Originally posted by Art Post: Heard from a well respected source that Kyocera will be eliminating its wide format systems. Re: Plotclient WIN "Auto" order printing

I don't think this would work for the customer as they need to have the lever up so that they can print to both upper and lower exits. If it is the lever that is messing up the logic, they will still be in the same predicament. Thanks for the suggestion!

Its kind of true. All Kyocera's own wide format have ceased production. The KM-3640w is a remodelled KIP 3000 and the only wide format available through Kyocera right now. And it seems the original KIP version wins this one....

1" border benefits: 1)If they are doing sets of drawings they can staple them together with a BINDING STRIP. This creates a nice, neat package, and in alot of cases, the company can put their logo, address, ect on it. Contractors do this often so the Sub-contractors know where the prints came from: it's advertising. 2) for in-house prints it allows for notes to be written on the edges...in BIG letters so there's no mistake about what needs to be changed.

u can remind the IT person that the Kyocera has to have 2 pieces of software loaded on each PC that can only run in startup mode (no service mode)for this to be capable.

Re: IKON looks interesting to H-P for purchase

I was at an HP onference recently where they explained that they currently have 5% of the TOTAL worldwide printing and imaging market. Then they said, to get to 20%, we'd need to triple our staffing, meaning we'd have to hire 480,000 people. Obviously, we can't do that so we're looking to you (Channel Partners) to do it for us! I mention this because "Buying the channel" is obviously another way to do that.

yep, have them print two up on 12x18 paper and then cut to 8.5 x 11 or you can have customer cut paper for 9x12 and then cut to 8.5 x 11

Art is right. The rule of thumb is that you never print to a bleed, always trim to a bleed.

telemarketer

I'm considering hiring a part-time telemarketer to call phone call companies in our database and see if they are making any equipment changes because are salespeople are too busy and many companies aren't getting called on. Does anyone have this in place? How is it working? Any suggestions on compensation? Thanks!
