The prospect is doing around 10K per month color, 20K per month b/w and would like to staple duplex. Xerox is doing CPC program, which is really one of my main stumbling blocks. What would you guru's suggest as solution? Thanks, Chris

Need more info in my opinion. Are you competing against the C40 or the 3535? Are the color applications graphic arts or business quality? How is the color being done currently? How important is speed? Do they need to print on thick or coated stock? Will it be a copier only or copy/print solution? Do they want color scanning? Is there much potential for mixed color and B&W originals within a single file? We have so many very different solutions now so the fact finding is much more critical. The

Just so you guys know, the user intervention is not new. It is actually part of the toner replacement process. There is actually instructions on the box of toner for this. These machines have a pm cycle of 400K and 500K. A little intervention is required. The whole process takes about 30 seconds. We have been selling these products for three years now, and they eat Ricoh's lunch service wise. Just my two cents. BTW, We are a twenty year Ricoh dealer.

Ted, The client's software is supposed to work with the network connection, but I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with their software. I am getting the same error message when using the TWAIN driver in my office when scanning from Illustrator, Publisher and even simple Microsoft Imaging. I am pretty confident that this is a problem with the TWAIN driver and not any specific software issue. Thanks for the quick response. I am setting up the third 1060 for testing purposes in my demo

worked, so I am not yet sure that my client with the original problem won't have to run NetBEUI also (Ricoh Tech Services said they would, but my IT guys are not excited about using NetBEUI), but I'll find out tomorrow. I also wanted to let you know that my Service Mgr. found the same thing you guys did concerning XP and the firewalls, but the client is running 2000 Pro and there were no firewalls to bypass. But at least I'll know what to look for next time when it won't work on an XP workstation

I am told we pay $203 dealer cost per carton (each contains 2 bottles) for all Océ toner. From an Océ Authorized WFPS Reseller's Reference Manual, Consumables Target Yield: On the 705x copiers Each bottle is rated for 11,500 sf - say 3,833 LF of 36"paper -at 5% coverage. Developer is 50,000 LF, wire/blade/drum are 65,000 LF. Don't have any prices on the PM kit as yet.

I ran into the same problem. But it makes senses why it doesn't work. You have to turn the user codes on for B & W as well. If you run ACS the user does not have access to the b & W or at least the code is not turned on. I don't know how Ricoh would fix this besides giving the option for ACS to be part of the user code set up!

it with every scanning software I can think of. I have tried it on two different 1060's. I have tried it on Windows 2000 and XP laptops with crossover cables. We have called Ricoh Tech Services and were told that the TWAIN driver needed NetBEUI running on the network, but this hasn't worked for me either. Now Tech Services is telling us that we need to post a "Tech Alert" because they have never heard of this problem (I'm afraid this is their way of putting me on the back burner). I find it

In reemphasizing the above quote, effective and meaningful communication is the foundation of any healthy relationship.

It's not just about the exchanging of words; it's about truly understanding each other and expressing feelings, as you build harmonious relationships.

When communication breaks down, misunderstandings can arise. This soon leads to frustration which in turn could potentially damage the relationship.

Like a ship without a compass, a relationship without good communication can easily drift off course, encountering various challenges along the way.

In thinking about your clients... How would you rate the conversation and communication you're having with them?

You see, without meaningful and rich conversations, where do you believe the relationship sits, really?

You never know when one conversation will lead to exponential sales growth.

The way you open conversations, carry on conversations and strengthen conversations has a direct impact on what happens next.

The direction of those conversations along with the intentionality behind them; all will have a direct bearing on sales opportunities, referrals, cross-selling, relationship building and your prospecting success.

Whether it's initiating conversations with warmth and empathy, maintaining active listening throughout, or strategically guiding the conversation towards mutual understanding and value, every step matters.

This is all about fostering trust and meaningful connections.

The struggle for many is that you rely upon scripted questions which yield you scripted answers.

I believe real conversations require complete participation. It requires you to be present. Genuine or even meaningful conversations are invitations, an invitation to "what's really going on" unfolds during the conversation.

How do you achieve authentic, meaningful, genuine and real conversations with your clients? Quite simple, you let your guard down and stop acting like a salesperson.

Engaging in real conversations requires you to be in the moment.

To be fully engaged during a conversation you must be able to move from communicating to connecting.

Connecting requires intentionality and focus during conversations.

What do you think you could discover about your clients with extreme focus during your conversations?

Things such as:

1. Goals, objectives, initiatives, and their vision.
2. Motivations and values.
3. Feedback and insights.

Allow your conversations to flow. Enter a realm of uncertainty and watch what starts to happen to genuine engagement.

How comfortable are you making your clients feel about you, so in return they become comfortable enough to start sharing their business secrets with you?

Some of the best conversations are organic, sometime a bit chaotic and not scripted.

Think about the conversations you're having with your clients and now ask yourself...

Is there any substance behind my communication that's helping me to uncover more than I anticipated?

I encourage you to pay close attention to what excites your clients. Look at how their eyes light up and notice the emotion in their voice.

Continue the conversation around the things that excite them and be willing to set aside the questions you had in mind. What you start to uncover is pure gold and relational betterment.

From the book, "Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection In A Sometimes Lonely World", by American physician and author, Dr. Vivek Murthy, he challenges us when it comes to conversations as he asks,

“What was it about that conversation? Did I have a breakthrough moment where I let my guard down? Allowed myself to be vulnerable and was real with the other person? Or was it that they did that with me? And by being vulnerable they actually empowered me to be the same with them?”

Are you brave enough to start proactive conversations that matter? Are you and your clients having break through moments with your conversations?

Purpose driven conversations are a catalyst to deeper connections, fresh ideas, and a better understanding of your client's world.

This is all about having the courage to move beyond small talk and explore the issues at deeper levels with your clients.

Purposeful conversation goes way beyond just understanding the exchange of ideas with your clients, this type of conversations circles in on why they exist.

Purpose driven and meaningful conversations with your clients allows them to be heard and understood. Trust soon starts to develop. And, trust is the currency inside your relationships.

Purpose driven conversations:

Shows You Care — Dedicate the additional time to provide insights and creative ideas for your clients to help them grow their business.

Builds Trust — In a post-trust sales world, proactive conversation shows that you are invested in their business growth. Closely monitor your client's business and routinely engage with knowledgeable insights to help them cast vision about their business.

Prevents Future Issues — Make sure there are no surprises. Prevent your clients from "making a mountain out of a molehill". Purposeful conversations will help you gain a better understanding about your client's needs, wants and desires before they turn into issues.

REAL CONVERSATION CREATES REAL KNOWLEDGE

The single best source of help are your clients. Engage with them. Ask them questions. Learn something new about them.

All these new things you learn about them become conversation starters when it comes to prospecting for new conversations with future clients.

At this very moment in time, how many of you are aware of what's really going on inside your client's business?

Sales professionals understand their clients, their business and their competitive landscape.

How can you improve the business lives of your clients? Quite simple, just ask them. Make it about them.

Getting to know your clients starts with purposeful, intentional and curiosity fueled conversations.

Intentionally listen to your clients and seek to understand.

It is about engaging in meaningful conversations driven by great questions.

It starts with triggers such as:

• Tell me more...
• In addition to that, what else?
• Imagine for a moment, what would happen if...
• I'm curious...

Wide Format Scanning Whitepaper
Whether you are replacing a current wide format scanner or purchasing for the very first time, it’s important to consider the two basic technologies currently in use for wide format image capture and how these technologies fit into the workflow and business model of your scanning needs.

Wide format scanners today use either a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) or a Contact Image Sensor (CIS) to capture data. Information enters into the scanner through a lens system and a light source that is reflected from the document and captured by the photo sensors.

Overview of CIS Technology: CIS or (Contact Image Sensor) technology was originally developed for small format devices and has been in use for many years on fax machines, check readers and ATM card readers. The technology uses multiple CIS modules that contain lenses and lighting within each module. The modules are placed side by side just under the scanning glass. The self-contained modules typically use low power light emitting diodes (LED) of red green and blue to light up the document. The light is then reflected by the document and captured by a glass rod lens, directing the light towards the image sensors which capture the pixel.

Overview of CCD Technology: CCD or (Charged Coupled Device) technology, commonly referred to as camera technology, has been designed for all types of digital imaging including scanners, video cameras, security systems, as well as, equipment for industrial testing, monitoring and measurement. This technology has been in use for years. Most synonymous with high quality scanning, camera technology employs a linear array of CCD’s or cameras and a sophisticated lighting system to illuminate the image to be scanned. The more advanced systems utilize 4-channel RGB cameras- red, green, blue and panchromatic mono channels that deliver 48-bit color depth at 16 bits per channel.

Now that you have a basic idea of the technology, lets examine our top 5 reasons why we recommend camera over contact image sensor technology.

1) Image Quality and Flexibility: CCD scanning technology produces quality scans for virtually any type of document that will fit through a roll fed scanner. Whether your originals are hand drawn engineering drawings, B&W photos, or maps, CCD scanning technology will capture 16-bit grayscale (64,000 shades of grey) using a dedicated panchromatic monochrome channel for a much sharper clearer image. CIS scanners deliver only 8-bit grayscale (256 shades) and green capture only and have restrictions in some document classes like full bleed graphics and copying to 8 and 12 color printers. If you need to run
GIS maps, blueprints with stiff edges, newspaper, delicate documents or mylars a Contex CCD scanner is highly recommended over CIS technology.

2) Productivity: CCD scanners (Contex only) scan with originals face down. Some might argue that face up scanning allows for better quality control but assuming sheets only take 3 to 4 seconds to scan, quality control is better performed at the software level using Line of Sight Scanning techniques like the National /AZON Zero Turn system. CIS scanners and most non-Contex brand CCD scanners employ face up scanning which requires operators to “double handle” every document to keep them in their original order. Face
down scanning allows for true scan and drop capability which offers the most efficient way to handle documents. In addition to face down scanning, CCD scanning software, coupled with the latest developments in media sensing technology, reads the input media size much faster and more accurately, reducing post scan error correction.

File transfer is another serious productivity feature in Contex CCD scanners. The enhanced utilization of USB 3.0 for file transfer guarantees a much higher degree of productivity as operators will experience virtually zero wait time for file transfer between images. Side by side productivity tests generate a minimum of a 2 to 1 speed increase for
CCD vs. CIS scanning.

3) Color Fidelity when close isn’t good enough: Due to the inherent technical advantage of camera-based technology, the color gamut is much wider, color fidelity is greater and image noise is reduced. Since cameras capture up to 48-bit color, printing and copying to 8 or 12 color printers produces significantly better results than CIS. Color depth and the ability to recognize the nuances of gradients is superior on CCD scanners.

4) Thick Document and folded document Scanning: Scans of mounted originals up to .60” thickness can be done with CCD scanners but not with (most) CIS scanners. The reason is that the lighting system and focal point of the CIS technology does not lend itself well to raised or uneven surfaces. If your document archives consist of a good percentage of any of these two documents, go with CCD. In addition, if you are a print service provider
(PSP) and are at the will of your customer, go with CCD to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and business retention.

5) Optical Calibration/Stitching: Contex CCD scanners come equipped with 4 to 7 Quad linear CCD’s. These CCD’s are each controlled by an adjustment motor that sets height and width and are accurate to 1/400th of an inch when stitching between cameras. CIS elements are fixed in place or in some cases have a single element across scan widths. Contex CCD scanners offer the only “self-correcting” optics available without a technician being required for adjustment or having an operator physically turning screws inside the scanner.

This factors in when using Closed Loop Calibration which performs the function of printing a wide color target to a customer’s scanner, then scanning that target with a CCD scanner to provide Nextimage Repro copy software with an accurate reading of how the printer is delivering defined colors in its output.

In summary, CIS scanners hold a significant market space and are very well suited to scanning CAD/GIS generated images as well as AEC markups and building plans, they are more portable and lightweight and generally less expensive than CCD based scanners. However, if your outputquality is of utmost importance, if you are a print service provider, if you have an archive full of varied originals, if you plan to scan color graphics, maps photos or thick originals a Contex CCD scanner is best suited to your needs.
