This Week in the Copier/Office Equipment Industry 10 Years Ago The Second Week of June 2006

It's funny that the Seri Model 25 shows up this week in the list of threads!  I'm currently involved with trying to place a Seri and a DD with a Pharma account.    Ricoh discontinued the Seri printers years ago, not sure why, it could have been because of slow sales and the fact that there were not that many opportunities for them.

The Seri Model 25 uses a UV light to cure the ink from a digital duplicator.  You need special ink, modified duplicator drums and then the Seri attaches to the end of the duplicator.  It's a neat process, and if you find an application you can hit a home run!

Has anyone ever competed against the Canon CLC1180, and how has the pricing compared to the Ricoh models? I have a customer who is print-for-pay, and wants to see how we compare pricewise to this model.

Ricoh Pocket Guides

Hello, I thought that this would be handy for all the sales reps to have. It is a quick snapshot of the new products. I have distributed it out to the sales reps in the past and they really liked it. Plus I try to capture all of the print volume of TDV in all of my accounts. It ain't easy.......I believe you can back door accounts buy selling them a scanner or a printer and when the MFP is needed you will be on the top of the list or one of the preferred vendors that they will meet with. Another item that comes to mind is that some MFP's are tied up all day with

We've also sold serveral (20 or so?) scanners. It's never been a choice between a scanner and an MFP. If they need printing capabilities, they get an MFP, if they only want scanning, why would they buy a scanner attached to a printer (an MFP)? Sure the vast majority of our sales are MFPs but providing the scanners for pure scanning applications makes sense. MFPs take up more room, are in use more often and have more items to break.

Re: Seri Printer 25 w/VDP from Ricoh

Jim, Thank you for the input - We haven't seen the new product yet but I have one ordered for a demo next week. I dno't have any support material on it. Does anyone have an electonic version of the dealer sales pack. It would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards

I have the launch pack. It has a brochure, sales info guide, launch presentation, and operator instructions. If you go to Info Center of Aficio League and do a search for SeriPrinter, you'll get digital files but I can't remember if VDP info is there or not.

Another thing that came up was Video Cards, you know the new ones (unless you get a good one) all use "Shared Video Memory" which means it steals the RAM from the PC. So if you have 512mb
