First Week of February 2003

Enjoy these awesome copier threads from 20 years ago

Twenty years ago was the start of this site.  I viewed the members that posted here and seeing members that have stuck and contributed for 20 years is amazing.  There were not a lot of threads but I'm delighted that we still chat from time to time @John, @Monte, Pete (he moved aware from copiers about ten years ago, @Rich (one of the great techs).  Also I was sorry to hear that @Lee passed about 39 days ago.  Special thanx to everyone!

I am not sure what IPDS is but I have a customer that needs it and is wanting to buy an AP3200. Does this machine support IPDS? Thank you for any help or info.

Re: Auto CAD & the FW 470

Autocad will print onto 17" paper. But I wouldn't recommend using the 470 to print that size. You would have to find a 17" roll of paper and that is an unusual item. I had this come up with a vehicle manufacturer and they print an enormous amount of check prints in that size. We convinced them to use a connected digital copier (1022-1027-1035)because of the cost difference. $0.025 cpc(11x17) vs $0.196 per linear ft.(470 ems) About a $225.00 per month difference in cost. Sell em a 1022 with

Re: Ricoh MFPs with Meditech

Been there. I just set it up with whatever HP driver they are currently using and print to my device. I'll usually install two drivers printing to the same device. One has the Ricoh driver installed and the other one is labeled MedTech_Ricoh and uses the HP driver. Thanks! Lee

IDPS is another of those IBM specific languages. When faced with this in the past we have used an Axis 5470e print controller to connect the system. It works well but you lose some functionality. [URL=http://www.axis.com/products/axis_5470e/index.htm]

The Axis 5470e works well, but the Axis support stinks. Why don't you give Mike DeBenedetto with Ricoh a call at (973) 882-2000 ext. 3173 and see if he can advise you on this? Thanks! Lee

THE XEROX 265 FAMILY WAS CODENAMED 'LAKES' WITHIN XEROX. WHEN IT 1ST CAME OUT, IT HAD HUGE PROBLEMS, SOME OF WHICH WERE CORRECT, AND SOME NOT. I HAVE SEVERAL P4P SITES WITH THE 265 AND ALL BUT ONE DISLIKE THE PRODUCT.

Re: 2610 printer error on MAC OS X

Pete Maimone (Guest) ·
Well Jason we can now say you were sort of right. We identified the problem with OS X and corrected it. It looks like we fell in that 5% category of transmitting data to the printer. Our SE identified the problem as being something within OS X was rejecting the Que name. They changed it and everything they have sent it has worked fine. Thanks!

Re: Ricoh MFPs with Meditech

Brad (Guest) ·
My experience with Meditech has been that they only support HP printers for use with their software. Any one using anything else is on their own if they have printing issues from Meditech. Most hospitals will not take that chance.

I would try it at your location first, all we used for the ID450DE was the Ricoh Twain Driver for Scanning and then told it where to out the file on the scan server.

I've got some lawyers who scan docs as PDF's to the print server, and because they are lawyers, purchased only one Adobe Acrobat program and put it on the print server. When the scans come in, they OCR in the print server, and pull docs to their PC's.

Auto CAD & the FW 470

Art Post (Guest) ·
With Auto CAD, will Auto CAD print to fit on a roll of 17 inch paper? I have a customer that prints an enormous volume of check plots onto "d" size paper. I was hoping to take this to the smaller size to save them money and time.

I have a customer that wants to automate scanning and ocr with a Ricoh product (not ecabinet). Can Scan Router lite or Scan Router Pro OCR a document and save it as a pdf?
