This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (Second Week of December 2004)

My apologies for not blogging as much in recent weeks. It's that end of year thing, and I'm still looking to hit some numbers/ I suffered a set back (kinda ) today when a client told me there was a new rule in place for purchases above ten grand. Yeah I know what that means, competitive quotes need to be gathered. It happens and I understand what I don't understand is why I can't catch a break every now and then. Seems the month, the quarter and the year is going to come down to the wire AGAIN!

Enjoy these really cool threads from 15 years ago this week!

Moody's raised to Baa2 from Ba1 its senior unsecured debt rating on Konica Minolta, adding that the outlook is now stable. "Moody's

Ricoh 1170L Fax (Savin SF-3810)

Has anyone had any experience forwarding with this machine. I have a customer who wants to have a copy print and then forward another copy to another fax. Seems like it should do it. I just haven't sold a stand alone fax in years, but this particular situation dictates it. Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Can HP Protect Its Printer Kingdom?

Wait and see what the new product line up does. HP has most all of direct sales force selling MFP"S. They have a cpp plan direct from hp and if they need to they can buy IKON and kick out Canon and Ricoh. They will get their 10%. I am surprised that you would put a quote from Xerox (a has been now ain't company)in your statement.

Does anyone have a copy of the Savin GSA pricing? If not, how about the Ricoh pricing? It is amazing when you can not get what you need in your own dealership.

Re: no

The document server is a standard function on a Ricoh 650 copier. Make sure that you have not selected document server but rather the copy function key on the left hand side. If your control panel shows original modes on left, copy functions in the center and finishing options on the right then you have the right screen. Just to check the machine out you could hit the "user tools/counter" key and print a count page. Hope this helps you out.

Re: 1515MF Poll

John Roof ·
Savin has the 3515MF's in stock. I haven't had much trouble getting them. I have had difficulty getting the AC104's like everyone else. Unfortunately, when the customer can't wait anymore and is threatening to cancel the order, I have had to call Carolina Wholesale to get one. Funny how Ricoh still supplies the wholesalers first before the dealers.

Does anyone have competitive info on HP 815MFP...especially costs per square foot for ink, media, and service? Also need "real" speeds for copying, printing, scanning "D" size documents. I've been checking out HP website and speaking to their sales people. So far, everything's clear as mud. Many thanks.

Re: NEW POLL, Document Management Software

jswinberlin ·
I agree with Jim and Vince, if we want to bundle it we can still do it, it just won't come from the manufacturer. I think sometimes when software is bundled the seller is less likely to look for better options. The only benefit would be if Ricoh was given exclusivity on the product like Canon's Ewhatever you want to call it...

to scan in color do you have a problem here. You can still put a 30" roll on the Ricoh and print 30x42" drawings. Much faster as well. Remember the ink yeilds on the cartidges for this machine are based on 5%. There is not a drawing out there I have seen which has a 5% coverage. They will be spending quite a bit on their supplies as well as having to keep more on hand since they will replace them more often. I would look to see if set printing is an application here as well. 500' rolls make a

We have 750,000,000 pages under contract . the average is about 5%. The lie that many present is 12% to make the reason to print to an mfp look better.

Re: HP CPP

I have some pages that represent page coverage for copiers and or MFP's, I will post them here. Recently, I had a customer that was averaging 9,000 pages per cartridge (reman). They were paying $70.00. This represents a cpp of .00777 per page! Of course this does not include the fuser kit, no on-site service, no phone support, no next day shipment of supplies, and no courtesy calls (on-site). I will post the scanned docs later.

I can't believe that there were over two hundred visits to our today and no one took the time to help answer your question! I have gone out of my way to research questions on this site, that I may do some good for someone on this site. I am not familar with the Sharp line and it just makes me steam when a question like this goes unanswered for a couple of days. There are a few us us who do most of the answering of questions and the rest of you sit back and go along for the ride. This site works

Re: HP CPP

on our B2C products you can send a print job to it and there is an SP code that will tell you what the coverage amount is for each color. Of the ones that I have run they have all been between 9% and 13% when you add the total of the 4 colors. Usually with black only it is closer to the 10% level. Frankly, I don't have to make the mfp look better if I am doing my job right I am also replacing the hp printers with my gestetners. If all I am looking at is to place mfp's I will never gain TDV

Bill S, You really have printers out there doing a total of 3/4 of a billion clicks? Is that per year or over a period of years? What do you charge for your maintenance on that kind of volume? Do you include supplies?

Just got time to visit the posts. Actually you can find it tough to compete with this Sharp model. Probably it's only real weakness is you can't add an LCT and have 4 trays as the LCT mounts under the unit where the 2 additionla trays go. We handle both Rioch and Sharp and our techs tell us they'll take the Sharp over a 2035 anyday...that's tough to deal with. The previous model had some quirks with the softwrae...couldn't turn off collate, no rotate sort, couldn't do slip sheets in copy
