. For instance, if all users in a particular workgroup are not using their computers, the system will recognize this inactivity and automatically shut down the workgroup‟s MFP to a sleep mode, greatly reducing power consumption and costs. Ricoh‟s solution can also enable a company to apply print rules that push settings onto workgroups. Therefore, if a particular group is consistently failing to meet the company‟s sustainability goals, the settings can force users to duplex or limit prints in

. -Unknown if access to the TechLink site (for firmware, manuals, bulletins, etc) will remain. If not, hopefully all that info will be available through the distributors. -Tech Support is shifting to the distributors. This is frakking nuts. The assembly exchange for boards, laser units, etc. I can see... but from what I'm hearing it sounds like they're quitting the Panasonic-run tech support hotline completely. -Apparently the copier/fax/printer/mfp division merged with the phones/projectors/TV division

Kodak & Ricoh "Coming to America?"

Art Post (Guest) ·
just a start. I also have to ask where does this put Kodak’s agreement with Canon. I hear that the Nexpress M700, that uses Canon 7000 technology, is sitting somewhat exposed in the market at a high price compared with equivalent products, and that it is being well undercut by Canon’s pushing of its 6000 press. Can we expect that Kodak’s weaknesses against companies like Xerox, where they have no comparable products to the Docucolor 242/252/260 and 700 Digital Press, could be helped by moving the

Ignoring cost of funds, the company I buy will pay for itself in five years if you follow this model. Sooner if you improve results after buying the company. BUT. When a manufacturer buys, this goes out the window. If COMDOC was a $150M company, doing $75M in equipment sales with Ricoh, Xerox just bought a $75M sales gain along with the manufacturer margins that

Maybe Canon should just acquire Kyocera. Logical move for Canon. This helps with printers as well.

Ricoh does sell the NexPress in the US through Ricoh's Print Production Business Group (PPBG) and through IKON. This has been in place with PPBG for over a year now and with IKON for a few years now. Ricoh's PPBG group does not sell the M700 press as it competes with the C900. I'm not 100% sure about the arrangement at IKON but it's probably similar since IKON used to sell the Canon line up to the 7000. I haven't read the article announcing this but I'd bet dollars to donuts that the EU

Panasonic Dumps Dealers, Keeps all but a handful!!!!

Art Post (Guest) ·
I recently posed this question to an aquaintance at a Panasonic dealership. MHis response: I think Panasonic's copier division was never a serious effort. Average product (except the C3 Color series that probably met industry benchmarks), low marketing efforts and probably the best thing was the cheap pricing - a 60 page b/w machine for dealer cost of approx $ 6000 which includes DADF and print+scan. Without a range of products, (no wide format, no high spped printers, no copiers above 60pm in

If you are a small dealer near a large urban area you will probably be screwed. I think Canon is shopping for dealers to sign up or buy out. I think that will be your best option.

We partner with copier vendors so that they can lead with a unique concept that is a true lease (off balance sheet). One of the essential differences in our arrangement is that the vendor owns the machine at the end of the lease. That gives the vendor total control of what options are given to the customer, and the vendor, not the leasing company profits accordingly. On a standard FMV or $1 lease the
