The New Push to Get Rid of Paper

doesn't include costs for ink, toner, or running copiers, printers, and fax machines. In the typical office, for every dollar spent on printing documents, companies incur another six dollars in handling and distribution, according to Xerox. Little wonder that the will to go paperless remains strong in parts of Corporate America. It's showing up in ways big and small, from admonitions at the bottom of e-mails to think before pressing the print button, to notes posted alongside printers asking

Is anyone else facing this from Xerox?
We are about to lose our third school district to Xerox who is quoting FREE UNLIMITED COPIES (toner inclusive). This one, we have 7 units there now and are proposing that 4 stay. Xerox has to replace all 7 and they are still beating our hardware cost so they aren't hiding service in the equipment price. The equipment is new and the agreement is for three years. Anyone else seeing this? We have another situation that is a large church with a dozen units. Xerox has put a new color box in AT NO

Does the Sammy 6345 have a feature like tihe Ricoh/Savin DOcument Server where you can store documents for walk up access? If I understand right the Sammys are relabeled as Muratec, do you guys see a benefit for being a Muratec dealer vs. Samsung dealer (maybe see less Muratec in Staples)?

Xerox recently placed a color unit in a Print 4 Pay location in Clinton, MS. No charge for the box, just copies billed at .08 each (single click for 11 x 17).

An ldap scan to email search that doesn't require 5 button pushes (Xerox can in 2). Color scan on everything. Web access from MFP panel. More sophisticated scanning setup (create scan profiles in one application and then push to one or multiple devices simutaneously, Xerox does this). PostScript emulation at a fraction of the cost of the real postscript option (as most of our competitors have). Scan2print. Oh yes, and most important for Ricoh to stop trying to acquire it's already acquired

In PA, Xerox has been pushing this promo to the school districts for three years now. We have a couple of disctricts that have Riso's and won't even entertain us on the copier side. The only way you are going to beat this is to wait and hope they screw up with servicing the account, other than that, there's no way to beat the price. Most of the schools are very happy with the program, the ones that aren't on it, hate Xerox and refuse to allow them on the RFP. I haven't heard anyone get hit

Re: Sales Tips

Surround yourself with happy people. It is easy to begin to think negatively when you are surrounded by people who think that way. Conversely, if you are around people who are happy their emotional state will be infectious. You are happy it will shine through, and your sales will show it as well.

We just brought in a MFX-4550 for evaluation. I printed off all the comments on this page and gave them to my service manager, and he thanks you for all the good insight. We have a tip to share back, and Ryan and Art will be glad to hear this. That annoying "confirm page size" screen that you get every time you open a paper drawer? You can turn it off. Go into the Machine Set-up/Admin Set-up screens, and poke around and you'll find it. We'll let you know how the rest of the evaluation

They were pretty upfront about relabeling Samsung. Art, you wrote that you've been getting service calls on small printers once you registered as a Samsung service center. Can you share any more about that?

Re: Features you would like to see on future products
The PS3 option for most of the newer models includes PDF Direct Print. You can set up a scan to folder (FTP) using the IP address of the printer you want to output on. This gives you "Scan2Print" capability. And of course, you can choose another folder on the network to scan to in the same operation...
