I confirmed this w/ my Lexmark DSM, but he says that the re-branded models they're providing for Ricoh will not have the same solutions set as the Lexmark systems available through their BSD channel and that they should have a higher CPC. I'm not sure what the launch date is, because it was originally supposed to be first quarter of this year, but maybe my Lanier DSM meant Q1 of their Fiscal Year, which would mean after March.

Re: PostScript Vs Fiery

. If you want to handle advanced graphic qualities (halftone screens, line control, trapping, overprint, etc.) you need Fiery. Also, if you want ability to do all of these things without having to print the document again (via command workstation), you need a Fiery.

I use ACT and also Card Scan for my business cards. Once I scan a card in, my system automatically sync's with ACT. This saves some time, however you still need to enter any sales or follow=up information into ACT which takes time. Salesforce.com has a nice online package I may consider for my reps. You can enter info right from your blackberry, after you leave the call. Mark

Most manufacturers (in addition to Ricoh) have some form of Cartridge Recycling / Return Program these days. As for Compatible Supplies (non-OEM), I have heard that certain companies have similar Programs to return Cartridges, depending on the company. Not that I trust all of them are truly disposing of materials in an environmentally friendly manner.

Re: Rumor has it.....

there is something not standard about that stream.I've tried it before w/ RPCS, PCL/Universal Print Driver, PostScript and all were complete failures. I put in another box w/ emulated postscript and had some better results but still the output wasn't right and the trays wouldn't switch.. had an SE d/l print streams and send them up the line, on and on.. The thing that is really frustrating about it is to put yourself in the customer's shoes.. they are being pushed around pretty hard right now

PostScript Vs Fiery

haven't been involved in many high end graphics but i've got a deal coming up and their marketing department is using a fiery on a konica color. Others have said that years ago people needed the fiery to make up for lack luster hard drive and processing on the mfp, and now with better equipment specs its no longer a requirement. Opinions on this? There will be some pantone matching in this case but what are the deal breakers that make one say yes this prospect needs a fiery.
