KonicaMinolta's New App Display for MFPs!
Art Post (Guest) ·
Not sure if everyone picked up this press release about KonicaMinolta's new app that would enable corporate wide announcements, updates, or messages to be displayed on new bizhub MFP's since they are the "water cooler" of the office. The link is here . I would like just like to hear from others how this "new" app could be used as a selling advantage, do you think it will help sales, what ideas could you come up with for the display? One question I have is, will it display a video? Or how about

Re: Worst Experience with Nuance
When Ed Schmid was running eCopy they had the best pre & post sales support in the industry. You could call an 800 # while onsite and get someone to answer the phone who actually knew the product better than you did. Those were the days when eCopy was a Canon only product. But Canon did not buy a controlling interest in eCopy so when their contract ran out, eCopy opened up to all copier manufacturers, and their support became poor, the rapid expansion overwhelmed them. Re: NEC Corporation of America Announces Closure of Document Solutions Division (DSD)
This isn't really even a story. For Konica Minolta and Kyocera it will be like losing a mid-sized dealer, & if it is somehow more than that, they will just sign up the NEC dealers as dealers of their respective brands.

The need for this sort of tie-up marks an unusual departure for the ascendant technology company, heralded for aggressive management that allowed it to leapfrog past Japanese giants such as Sony Corp and Toshiba Corp in markets from consumer electronics to semiconductors. Over the years the press releases from OCE have been very frequent at least a few times a month or in some cases once a week. Does anyone else have an internal news on Oce and Canon?

In the context of office printing, when you think about Print Management, what comes to mind? For most people, it is management of the actual print output ("what comes out of which device"). But this is a very narrow view on the subject; we can call it Output Management, a very small playground in the world of Print Management. Such a narrow view can be dangerous and you should set your requirements based on a more holistic view (more about this further down). Output Management includes niche

Just browse through the brochure and documentation for the Canon. The user interface on the MFP is weak. Its a plotter with a scanner (probably a Contex) added. The Ricoh MFP has our standard user interface. Anybody who has a Ricoh MFP of any kind can walk up to this new machine and know exactly how to use it. Would be interesting to see a Monster Garage featuring the two products.
