The Week in Copiers Ten Years Ago
First Week of April 2006
This Thursday will mark the beginning of April which is also known as April Fools Day.
"Some historians speculate that April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. In the Julian Calendar, as in the Hindu calendar, the new year began with the spring equinox around April 1."
However for our beloved copier industry April Fools Days can bring about many changes. April 1st is also the start of the new fiscal year for most of our Japanese manufacturers. Some of those changes are good and some really stink, I'm afraid that we'll see massive reductions in the work force from many of our manufacturers and that's because of a full year of COVID related losses. I hope not but I think the writing is on the wall.
