Konica Minolta and 140lb index

·
The bizhubs are rumoured to do 140lb index...through the drawer...duplex!!! The Savin color machines only do a maximum paper weight of 90lb...through the bypass...simplex only. Are the bizhubs really all that or is this a "fish story". What are the reprocutions if a customer runs this kind of weight often on the bizhubs. Any dual line distributors out there?

I got the weight information that I quoted above straight out of their spec sheet and Product and Sales Guide; it also was discussed during our sales team's launch training. It bears out with what our service team is seeing. I do not see anything in Konica's materials for this model series about t-shirts. Must say it surprises me that anyone tries to put t-shirt transfer materials through a laser printer or copier anyway, since the transfer material is fused to the t-shirt fabric with an iron

cent or less and declines proportionally after that. Our systems are specifically designed to bridge the gap between copier and offset systems by handling run lengths that are too long for copiers or laser printers and too short for offset presses. Some RISO models can output 35 to 40 copies economically. When the run length requirement hits about 4,000 copies, depending on what equipment the customer has available, it may be appropriate to move the job to an offset press. WTT: Today, digital

Local number might be a nice perk, but sounds like this customer is sending more than receiving. I'm glad we're able to provide a solution but wow, what kind of person calls their copier rep and says: "Ok, I wanna send a fax over a phoneline but don't have a phoneline, do you have a machine that'll do that?"

We're dual line Konica and Ricoh. That info is accurate for some of the bizhub line, but not every model. The 350-250-200 monochrome engine, for example, does not do that. But, the C351 and C450 color engines do. No repercussions if engine is rated for the weight and paper meets spec. Otherwise, we'd handle it like any other service issue where the problem is caused by client's actions.

Shaja: So you're saying that the color machines run this weight without problems? How/Why is it capable of so much more than the Ricoh machines? If you ran this weight on a Ricoh (and it didn't jam which would be highly unlikely) you'd be replacing rollers and fusing sections like they were going out of style. This isn't the case on the Konicas? Sorry if this is a little redundant, but I have to find some kind of a defense to this objection that is bound to arise.

I'm not an engineer, so I don't know the design decisions behind that. All I can tell you for us is that the machines have been living up to their promised specifications. You may want to consider

I lost a deal to the 250 because of the paper weight and t-shirt transfer claim. they told the client that the 250 would run 140lb....bad thing for customer is he purchased not leased and now he is stuck with the machine...and guess what the rep no longer works for Konica Minolta!

It's Oh, I see. @remote isn't for everyone. Ricoh reccomends it being placed in accounts with 10 or more machines. While it primarily tracks network copiers, it can actually track up to 5 devices that are not connected to the network, but it connects to them through serial cables, so not great if the customer has long distances between machine. And while it does usually send in this information over the internet, it can use a phone line to "call in" the information as well.

I have only seen the transfer material used on Deskjets (type) or Toshiba C1000 which used a wax ribbon and a thermal print head for image transfer.

Ricoh has new engines coming to replace the 32 series that will solve that issue. According to Ricoh you can run thick stock out of the drawers with no issues.

Our primary method has been fax for a long time, we setup email meter readings a few years ago, I'd have to check what % of customers are using that. If all else fails theres the phone.

I'm new to this device, so this device will only work if the MFP is connected to the network. Right now we have about 20% of our equipment that is connected to a network. It's the other 80% that we have to call or have faxed in.

Why is this topic in the AS/400 forum? Now that I'm certified on @remote I can answer more questions. Ricoh reccomends it be placed in accounts with 10 or more machines. The really strange thing here is that the @remote device captures the data (including customer name, Model of machine, Serial Number and all useage data), sends it to Ricoh Japan, and then allows the dealer to access it.

Thanks for the replies. It has been interesting. I have a friend who is attending a 3day school this week and he wasnt too impressed. Like me he has a technical job and technical certs (A+, N+) . He is attending becasue Ricoh requires it. He said that while he is learning a lot of new terms and information he isnt sure he will ever use it. I think the case will be different for me becasue alot of people in my company depend on me talk to customers about scanning solutions. Indeed, anything

Re: @ Remote is Here!!

Not sure what you mean. Each device is setup seperately. The data is sent to Ricoh, then forward to the dealer (you). The customer doesn't see this data, it would contain details for every customer. Dealers can run reports and export data to provide to the customer.

Re: @ Remote is Here!!

I understand that the "program" works that way. However, I have a fortune 500 that orders a quarter million a year that really wants @Remote and I really want a list of every print device they own. But they want to be able to get the info themselves and I would like to at least have the option of considering that possibility. The benefit to us would be huge. Obviously I can't give them direct access if it gives them access to all of our other accounts as well.

You can set a Key Operator s Email address and then set User Parameter 20, bit 7 to 1. That would send an email if there was an error. Maybe the easiest way is to set up SNM and the sender can view the status of their fax that way.

I guess I'm old school, but I like the public library or book store. Try: Tom Hopkins Zig Ziglar Frank Betcher Dale Carnegie Joe Girard Brian Tracy Frank Pacetta and there are many more ... if you're on the road (which most good sales reps are) a book or CD on tape is faster and I find easier to remember.

What system do you guys use to obtain meter readings for your service contracts? We are still using the phone method, and some customers fax them in each month. I want to see the benefits of having a link on our website for customers to log into and send them via email. Any feedback would be appreciated.
