Microsoft ends Windows Update driver install

In the coming years, printer and MFP makers may no longer distribute their print drivers via the Windows Update function

• Instead will use the default Microsoft IPP Class Driver using Mopria platform
• Mopria Alliance members include Konica Minolta, Xerox, Canon, HP, etc.
• Currently more than 6000 models support the new standard
• Timeline of new policy:
• • 2025 = may not publish new printer drivers to Windows Update
  • 2026 = Microsoft modifies ranking order to new platform
