Real Copier Sales...

Art - love the article, and I totally agree with you.  I have been saying for the past 10 years that the "SMART" manufacturer will build two models:  Seg 1-4 model and Seg 5-6 model.  Then all the customer has to do is buy the "speed" chip that determine's the speed.  It's the perfect scenario from a production side:  Manufacturers only have to build two models and can increase production.....more here

Clients will be offered a subscription service that includes a speed license (for scan print) with maintenance supplies. By the end of 2030 we're only going to be left with four manufacturers of print devices. If I had to guess it would be the likes of Canon, KonicaMinolta, Ricoh and ........ Mega dealers will continue to invest in acquiring IT related services companies that specialize in security

Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. Parts I can somewhat understand, but toner? Hope that your

I'll chime in. Like TML I'm in my early 30's and have been selling copy hardware for nearly 10 years. I think good sales people as a whole are quickly becoming scarce. Millennials don't seem to like to interact withothers if they don't have to and as most "print" decisions move to IT, online buying is already what they know. Overall it is a convenience factor, they don't have to submit a form to a website and wait a couple days for salesperson to try and up-sell themto an A3MFP. They click a

Re: This History of the Fax Machine According to Art

Loved the reflection on the history of fax. Although this was a relatively low residual product it offered a new way to get in the door. In the 80's, I would follow the fed ex delivery driver who often was delivering some printed pages (agenda's, schedules, documents) that needed to be there next day or sooner. It was an ear opener when you tell them you can them there next minute without the $12.00 fedex charge. Using afterhours timing for reducing long distance charges helped separate

The amount of ships that leave China to Europe & the USA decreases day by day. The influence of production-stops and decreased logistics will be felt in a couple of weeks. Depending on the current stock-levels of the European and US warehouses there will be a small or large shortage on machines and parts. What if the Chinese production will be 'on hold' for several more weeks (or months)? If there is not enough availability of machines, what will that do for your business?
