Many moons ago, I made a few predictions in reference to "what I thought" would happen with Ricoh Americas. To sum it up, my thoughts were that Ricoh would take all non performing dealers and ask them to become Lanier or Savin, while keeping the top Ricoh Dealer performers. It made sense to me in the fact that

As of December 2008, there were only eight (8) RFG Independent Dealers interested, and one of those is no longer an RFG Dealer. Again, since Ricoh is focusing strictly on IKON now, the direction would be for IKON to use the C900 and C900s to replace the Canon production units that IKON has in the field. Yet, we have all read the C900 product reviews and now Konica Minolta has launched great new Print Production models that are putting a wrench in the works.

Apparently, the Brand Keys survey demonstrates a customer's propensity to buy the same Product again and this is the second year in a row that Konica Minolta took the top spot. I don't think they won because of their TV commercials. From what I see, they are the best in Mid Range Color and Ricoh can't come close to Konica Minolta's Print Production systems. The Ricoh C900 hasn't exactly lit the world on fire.

RUMOR has it that Ricoh will change the name of the company to IKON Americas Corporation, effective August 1, 2009. RBS will fold into IKON, with several offices closing across the country. This new IKON direct organization will be the only distribution channel selling 'Ricoh' brand products, while the remaining "strong" Independent Dealers can sell Lanier and Savin (for a limited time) at an approximate 20% higher price than IKON will enjoy. It is sad that Ricoh has laid open the market and is allowing the direct reps to compete in current RFG business. The direct operation for Konica Minolta has been put on notice that if they walk into a current KM customer, then they are to turn around and walk out the door. That's from tRick Taylor himself. That doesn't mean if you're a duel line dealer and have non Konica Minolta equipment in there, then it's fair game, but KM is trying to protect its dealer side.

Once you know how to customize the Kyocera touchscreen it is just as user friendly as a Ricoh. In fact you can customize their touchscreen any way you want for the customer, something you can't do with a Ricoh. My suggestion would be not to be selling based on the hardware. Financially it doesn't make sense to destroy Ricoh's independent community which if you read this, every independent selling RFG would immediately drop them and pick up another manufacturer (we have already). In that situation, I'll guess that it is simply inertia. The IT person may simply be used to doing things that way and not have thought through doing it other ways. It's funny, we deal with printing issues and setting up printers every single day, but IT people may only deal with it once every couple of months. We put a lot more thought into this than they usually do.

You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. 5.) Tips to Help Your Telemarketing Campaign The first few seconds are crucial Just like you would when writing a sales letter or press release, you should fill the first few seconds with as many key words and phrases as possible to gain an immediate interest from the customer. You may only get a chance to get out two or three sentences before the customer stops you to say they have no interest, so make them count. Don't assume they need something - this is very off putting. Instead, ask the

I always like to give a little back ground about about the previous models and one important note is that Ricoh has decided to not offer non networked version of the MP 2553/3053 and the 3353. With the previous "52" series you were able to get a non networked version, which means that the system was just a copier. I'm kinda on the fence with this decision since I've recently quoted a few of the older "52" series with a coin box attachment. I felt that I had an edge against the competition since

I instructed her that before you make copies, to press the button to first clear any job that was previously run. I thought she understood that. At one time we were also both a Savin and Ricoh dealer. The advantages we found were having two support structures, "another line" we could submit as a "competing bid", and simply having a second line. Surprisingly, I spoke to some customer who told me "I'll never have another Ricoh in this building, I hate them! oh, Savin? sure, that's fine" and vice versa.

We had those same issues of customers not wanting this line or that line, and remember at one time the serial number plates had one for Ricoh and one for Savin, so you couldn't order one machine and put a different sticker on it as you can now. Our main issue was we didn't want another dealer to move in and compete for the Major Account deals. But as you said, there were two structures you had to deal with.

Savin had signed us up at their 5+ pricing so yes we did get lower pricing than Ricoh. The only way Ricoh would give us lower than 1st column was to sign up on the commitment programs. The boss didn't want to because if the quota's weren't met, then we would be charged back for the difference.

Re: Ricoh cuts Jobs

·
As for substantially lower pricing, I wouldn't say that much, but it was an advantage over Ricoh without signing a commitment form. Savin didn't use the Aficio League points like Ricoh did, but they did offer a credit card program that was similar to Aficio League points but the points were put on the credit card as 1 point for 1 dollar. Credit limit on the credit card was $50 that you had to pay back, but points were not paid back, but could be used to pay a balance on the credit limit.

I've stated this a few years ago and still stick by it. I think Ricoh will keep all high performing dealers as Ricoh dealers. Thus any under performing dealers will be asked to take on Lanier or Savin. End result IKON, RBS to dominate fortune companies with sprinkling of mega Ricoh dealers. Lanier and Savin dealers left to compete for SBM's. My two cents worth.

Are they Savin or Ricoh and do they handle duplicators?

"Dealers that don't perform!" Come on man that is a negative statement. There is still a market for the Lanier name and Lanier is advertising like crazy on television as well as other media. Ricoh is not the "Supreme" or the best. All of the revenue for Savin, Lanier, and Ricoh ALL goes into the "Ricoh" pot. Don't put down the smaller Lanier dealers please.

Meaning Ricoh dealers that do not perform, maybe asked to take on Lanier or Saving (these are just my thoughts). I m sure there are many decent sized and well performing Saving and Lanier Dealers. Heck, I work for a small dealership also.

I had a demo in downtown Princeton, NJ back in the early Eighties. I had a Nissan Hatchback (remember we all had to have station wagons), well after the demo I loaded the copier and gurney back into the car and left for my next appointment. Stopping at the first traffic light, and then I took off fast, not realizing that I did not close the hatchback properly. Well, the gurney and machine came out the back and the car in back of me crushed the gurney and the copier. I ad some explaining to do

Here's another, again back in the eighties. Got a call from a person that ran a business out of their home. I secured the demonstration for the date and time. Loaded the copier and my partner in the car and we were off! We got there and knocked on the door, then rang the doorbell, nothing.....figured we would go around back and knock on the backdoor. We opened the gate and found a woman nude sun bathing in the back yard! She saw us, screamed and went indoors...... we had the wrong address. Ah

I guess this initiative will keep the branch guys busy trying to learn something new, while we're in their taking the corporate business. Good for them.

yes, one of my customers had 6 of these with the error 999. I told him to call the number, it seems they (Ricoh) may replace all six of them, and they are all out warranty by a month or so.

I don't think you need a new "room" for videos. I would just like to know I'm opening a video before I open it. Unless I want to watch a video for a particular reason (i.e., demonstration, humor, personal gratification, etc.) I will just close it immediately, thus a waste of time.

envelope in the mail. I opened it and found a single piece of paper. When I unfolded the paper, I saw a "copy" of the disk. The user had placed the disk on a copier and made a copy for me. This story actually happened to me, it is not a retelling of someone else's story that may or may not have happened, it is true.

Art mentioned a demo he did back in the Eighties. I had posted a funny story here several years ago, that I had to post again for the folks that never read it. I installed and trained an Aficio 3035 yesterday to a Sheriff's Office. One of the ladies (who is a true blonde) was asking questions on the yellow key. I instructed her that before you make copies, to press the button to first clear any job that was previously run. I thought she understood that. When I was following up today, I was told
